Teethe

I caught Dallas band Teethe a couple years back at SXSW, and they've got a cool slowcore-tinged alt-rock thing going on.  The band's new album "Magic of the Sale" is out in August.  Pre-order it here from Winspear and listen to the excellent title track below.

Maz

Every year at SXSW i end up catching some shows from artists i've never heard of and know nothing about.  And i enjoy them.  That's really what the whole thing is all about.  Anyway, one of the acts i caught last week that i went in blind for was the pop stylings of Utah artist Maz.  Synths, groovy beats, and dancing lay ahead.  Check out "Kiss Kiss Boom" below and pre-order the "NPC" EP here from Winspear.

Wishy

I mentioned earlier about those bands and artists whose names i'm seeing everywhere this week.  Well, here's another one: Indianapolis indie pop band Wishy.  I caught them last year.  They were great, and they're back with new EP "Planet Popstar."  Look for them everywhere in Austin this week, pre-order the EP here from Winspear, and listen to "Fly" below.

Divino Niño

Here's a new groovy, slinky, and dreamy jam from Chicago's Divino Niño that's got yacht rock vibes for days.  In another universe, i'm listening to this by the water sipping on something fruity.  Check it out below and get it here via Winspear.

Barrie

New York pop band Barrie have release a couple of dreamy singles over the last few months, and now they've got another synth jam for the demanding masses, as well as a 12" collection of said singles headed our way next month on Winspear.  Listen to "Michigan" below and pre-order the "Singles" record here.

Major Murphy - Strangers

Hey folks, i got to see Michigan 3-piece Major Murphy perform at SXSW earlier this year, and they were great.  And now the band has released a cover of The Kinks' "Strangers," will all the proceeds benefiting the Fianza Fund, an organization that supports and aids migrants who have been detained at the southern US border.  Listen below, get the song here, and visit the organization here.

Barrie - Tal Uno

Here's a synthy, dreamy new slab of pop from New York band Barrie, whom i very much enjoyed back in March at SXSW.  Listen to "Tal Uno" below and download it here via Winspear.  Maybe a full-length is in our future.

Major Murphy

Pulling from indie, pop, dreampop, and good old rock n' roll, Michigan trio Major Murphy sound distinctly American, jangly guitars, grooving bass lines, and a steady toe-tapping beat just meant to be heard in festival fields and dive bars across the country.  The band's latest "No. 1" LP is due at the end of the month on Winspear.  Listen to the title track below and get the record here.

Barrie

As i get geared up for next week's music extravaganza, i'm doing my best this week to make mental notes of artists to try and check out.  As of now, Tuesday is looking like it may be somewhat of a synth pop / dreampop kind of day, so i may as well listen to New York band Barrie.  Listen to the grooving haze of "Canyons" below, download the song here via Winspear, and look for them next week at SXSW.
