Pullman
Pullman was a collaborative post rock/slowcore band featuring members of Tortoise and Codeine among others. Did i say was? Because i meant is. The band is set to release their first new material in 25 years at the end of the week with their new album "III." Check out the breezy, meditative and yearning sounds of "Weightless" below and get the LP here from Western Vinyl.

Chuck Johnson
Here's some new music from Chuck Johnson. The Oakland artist crafts beautiful, minimalist ambient soundscapes that pull from post rock, Americana, film scores and more. Check out new tune "Teleos" below and pre-order the upcoming "Sun Glories" LP here from Western Vinyl.

Old Fire
Old Fire is the project of Abilene composer and producer John Mark Lapham. "Voids" is the new album from the project that drops on Friday which the artist describes as "a sprawling mural illustrating the isolation and decay that defined growing up in West Texas, and the losses and frictions he has endured amid such a bleak backdrop." Having grown up in West Texas myself, i can attest. The record mixes elements of folk, country, jazz, ambience, and more and features some guest vocals from Julia Holter and Emily Cross among others. Check out the practically devastating "Don't You Go" below featuring a vocal assist from Bill Callahan, and pre-order the album here from Western Vinyl.

YVETTE
I remember hearing New York band YVETTE several years ago, but have no idea what the context was, be it music blog or some random festival i've attended over the last decade, but i remember thinking they were good. Anyway, they're back in my life again this fall with a new album, "How the Garden Grows." Check out the kind of goth, kind of post punk, kind of industrial avant pop of "For a Moment" below and pre-order the LP here from Western Vinyl.

Hollie Kenniff
Here's some lonesome and beautiful ambient music to just kind of disintegrate to from Hollie Kenniff. The artist's new album "The Quiet Drift" came out earlier this month featuring 10 floaty, ethereal jams to get lost in. Check out "Sunset Chant" below and get the album here from Western Vinyl.

Caroline Says
I caught Austin artist Caroline Says a couple of years ago and SXSW, and her blend of Americana and dreampop is just the kind of thing to wind down to on a Sunday that was hotter than it had any right to be. Check out new track "Ohio River" below and get the new EP of the same name next month on Western Vinyl.

Lightning Dust
Lightning Dust is the duo of Amber Webber and Josh Wells, formerly of Black Mountain. The pair create a kind of psych rock that pulls from folk, classic rock, and prog. Check out "A Pretty Picture," featuring Stephen Malkmus on guitar, below and download the new "Spectre" album here from Western Vinyl.

Air Waves
I remember first hearing Brooklyn artist Air Waves years ago, and being fairly taken by it, but for whatever reason, she just fell off my radar. Anyway, new album "Warrior" (that's the killer album art above) is due in April on Western Vinyl. Listen to dreamy album closer "Blue Fire" below and pre-order here and here.

Caroline Says
With a name that must be a nod and tribute to Lou Reed (seriously, what else could it be?), Austin artist Caroline Says just recently popped up on my radar, a few shows set for next week's SXSW and a new LP, "No Fool Like an Old Fool" coming out that week as well. Crafting kind of a floaty sonic aesthetic with swirling loops and notes of surf, psych, soul, and folk, it's one of those record that feels instantaneously timeless. Listen to "Sweet Home Alabama" (not a cover) below, pre-order the album digitally here, or order the record here from Western Vinyl.

Peter Oren
Western Vinyl has been amassing a pretty stellar string of releases of late, leaning towards more low key artists putting out impressive and intoxicating work. Indiana's Peter Oren comes from a singer/songwriter aesthetic, but mixes a kind of dusty or earthy folk sound into his final product, all while the added orchestration gives everything a classic cinematic feel. The "Anthropocene" LP is due in November, but go ahead and listen to the title track below now.

Grooms
Hey guys, it's Thursday, and as far as i know, we haven't descended into all out civil war yet, so here's some fractured, gloomy (yet dreamy) pop from Brooklyn's Grooms. Listen to "Turn Your Body" below and be sure to get the upcoming "Exit Index" LP in October on Western Vinyl.

Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith
Experimental electronic artist Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith has a new album in the works, and here's a weird (and excellent) little track from it called "To Follow and Lead." Listen below and get the upcoming new record "The Kid" from Western Vinyl in October.

Joseph Shabason
Here's a dreamy, mellow jam from Joseph Shabason, noted for his stellar sax work for Destroyer. The artist's new solo record, "Aytche," is due in August on Western Vinyl. Listen to the title track below and try not to float away.

Air Waves
Air Waves is the dreamy and melancholy project of Nicole Schneit, and "Parting Glances" is her latest album. Recorded with Woods member Jarvis Taveniere and featuring some guest vocals from Lower Dens' Jana Hunter, the record already sounds like it's a winner. Take a listen to the weary and crawling "Milky Way" below and get the record in September from Western Vinyl.

Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith
