Lightning Dust is the duo of Amber Webber and Josh Wells, formerly of Black Mountain.  The pair create a kind of psych rock that pulls from folk, classic rock, and prog.  Check out "A Pretty Picture," featuring Stephen Malkmus on guitar, below and download the new "Spectre" album here from Western Vinyl.

Black Mountain

Has it really been 6 years since we last got a proper album from Canadian prog rock stoners Black Mountain?  That's just crazy.  The long overdue "IV" is out next week on Jagjaguwar, and to get you in the right state of mind for its release, watch the trippy video for "Mothers of the Sun," below, fever dream hallucinatory images accompanying killer stoned guitar riffs, howling organs, and interstellar exploratory vocals, piercing that third eye.  I didn't realize i missed good, old fashioned prog rock so much.

Lightning Dust

Lightning Dust is the side project of Black Mountain members Amber Webber and Josh Wells.  New album "Fantasy" will be out in June from Jagjaguwar.  Where Black Mountain wades in 70's stoner rock, Lightning Dust plays with bits and pieces of 70's AM folk and 80's synthy soft rock.  It's all so very retro, but enjoyable.  Listen to "Diamond" below, a nice slice of pop that would have worked wonderfully in a John Hughes movie, or at the very least, something with Jennifer Beals in it.
