Bloodslide

Post punk band Bloodslide, the supergroup of sorts featuring Greg Ahee of Protomartyr, Mike Wallace of Preoccupations, and AJ Lambert (Nancy Sinatra's daughter), have been dropping singles here and there for the last couple of months.  They're now readying their debut self-titled EP in September.  It's good stuff.  Check out "How Glad I Am" below and pre-order the record here.

Bloodslide

Bloodslide is the trio of Greg Ahee (Protomartyr), Mike Wallace (Preoccupations), and AJ Lambert, the daughter of Nancy Sinatra.  Together, they make dark, kind of slinky, kind of heavy post punk.  Check out the seizure inducing video for "Pica" below and grab the track here.  Here's hoping an album is heading our way in the future.

It's possible there may still be some unofficial SXSW stuff going on in Austin next week, but now that Tom Hanks is sick and the NBA was cancelled, i'm not so sure.  It seems likely the universe doesn't want me (or anyone for that matter) to do this thing next week, so i'll just have to settle for a new single from Protomartyr rather than seeing them live.  Listen to "Processed by the Boys" below and pre-order the upcoming "Ultimate Success Today" LP here via Domino.

Protomartyr covers Preoccupations

In a move sure to make post punk fans giddy, the guys of Protomartyr and Preoccupations have decided to issue a 7" where they cover each other.  And there was much rejoicing.  The "Telemetry at Howe Bridge" 7" is out next month on Domino, featuring Protomartyr's stripped down take on "Forbidden" and Preoccupations' version of "Pontiac '87."  Listen to "Forbidden" below and pre-order the record here.

Protomartyr with Kelley Deal

FACT: Putting Kelley Deal on anything automatically makes it a thousand times cooler than it has any right to be.

Evidently Detroit post punk band Protomartyr are believers of this mantra, their upcoming "Consolation" EP featuring the alt-rock legend on two tracks.  Honestly though, "Wheel of Fortune" would probably be just as rad without Deal, but you know, she's there.  And we're all the better for it.  Listen below and pre-order the record here via Domino.

Protomartyr - Blues Festival

Check out the loud and stomping new jam from Detroit's Protomartyr.  "Blues Festival" comes from the forthcoming "A Half of Seven" split 7" with Kelley Deal's R. Detroit post punk noise rock band Protomartyr continue to bash and bang their way through cold, dark, and angular odes to discontent, a tone perfect soundtrack for a dying metropolis.  Listen to "Scum, Rise!" below and look for the band's "Under Color of Official Right" in April from Hardly Art.
