Monde UFO

Earlier this year, LA artist Monde UFO released the weird and wonderful, and probable year-end-best, "Flamingo Tower" LP.  November brings us a "sequel" EP with the upcoming "Flamingo Tower, Nobody Cares."  Check out the also weird and wonderful album opener "Nobody Cares" below, a kind of dusty, cinematic mix of old pop sounds.  And pre-order the EP here from Fire Records.

Black Lips

Fresh off of March's country stomp jammer "Satan (I'm Tired of You)," long running Atlanta garage rock band the Black Lips are back with another new tune with "Wild One."  The track combines western vibes with old spacey synth sounds and outlaw pastiche.  It kicks ass.  Check it out below and download it here from Fire Records.

Black Lips

I really should get my ass to work, so i'll leave you for the day with a fun and excellent new track from long-running garage rock band Black Lips.  "Satan (I'm Tired of You)" is a country-fried garage explosion of Bible Belt sermons and punk rock sneering.  Check it out below and download it, along with B-side "The One," here from Fire Records.

Monde UFO

I've really been digging on the work of LA band Monde UFO the last couple of years, their mix of jazz, lounge, exotica, and psych-tinged alt-rock scratching a particular itch i wasn't even aware i had.  The band's new album "Flamingo Tower" is out in March.  Listen to the strange "Samba 9" below and pre-order the LP here from Fire Records.

Lucy Gooch

UK artist Lucy Gooch recently released an expanded edition of her 2020 "Rushing" EP.  The album is a still and mellow mix of ambient tones, barely-there electronics, British folk, hushed, melancholy vocals, and neo-classical structures.  It's a beautiful piece of work.  Check out the album closing "Orthione" below, get the album here from Fire Records, and look for the artist around Austin in a couple of weeks.

Hater

Swedish pop band Hater have a new record heading our way in April with "Sincere."  These guys and kind of fallen off my radar since 2018's synthy "Siesta" LP, but they've got some '90s alt-rock and shoegaze vibes going on new single "Something."  This is probably one to keep an ear on.  Check the track out below and pre-order the new LP here from Fire Records.

Vanishing Twin

UK experimental psych act Vanishing Twin pull from all manner of sounds, psychedelia, world beat, kosmische, krautrock, and so on, to create their own bewildering brand of pop music.  New album "Ookii Gekkou" is out in September, and i can't help but love its simple, yet entrancing album art.  Check it out, along with "Big Moonlight (Ookii Gekkou)" below and pre-order the album here from Fire Records.

Las Kellies

The last i heard from Buenos Aires band Las Kellies, the ladies were making sun glazed and fuzzy psych pop.  Now a duo, the band is still washed in fuzz, but this time around on new album "Suck this Tangerine," there's a dancey, new wave/post punk thing going on too.  Well played Las Kellies.  Well played.  Listen to "Closer" below and get the record here from Fire Records.
