Thor Harris

Austin's Thor Harris made a name for himself drumming for Swans and shit-posting online about Nazis and the best way to punch them.  When he's not doing those things, he makes all manner of experimental music.  His latest is the upcoming "Doom Dub II," which finds him channeling dub reggae into ghostly ruminations with the aid of artists like Adam Harding, Zola Jesus, Marissa Nadler, and more.  Check out the Zola Jesus, Craig Ross, and Dorian Wood assisted "Day 447 of Quarantine" below and pre-order the album here from Joyful Noise.

Thou, Mizmor, & Emma Ruth Rundle cover Zola Jesus

Last month when Sacred Bones announced their new "Todo Muere SBXV" compilation to celebrate their 15th anniversary, one of the tracks i was most interested in hearing was Thou, Mizmor, and Emma Ruth Rundle's take on the Zola Jesus song "Night."  Well, it's out, and it's heavy and magnificent.  Check it out below and pre-order the record here.  While you're there, check out a couple of the other tracks that have been released so far, including Boris covering SQURL and Marissa Nadler covering David Lynch.  Good stuff.

Lustmord & Zola Jesus

April brings us "The Others (Lustmord Deconstructed," a tribute album featuring a slew of interesting artists tackling the dark, sprawling, and heavy work of experimental artist Lustmord, the "[O T H E R]" LP in particular.  The record will include such diverse artists as Bohren & Der Club of Gore, Godflesh, Ulver, Spotlights, and more.  Check out Zola Jesus's offering, "Prime," below and download the album here from Pelagic Records.

Blanck Mass Remixed by Zola Jesus

Hunting around for some new music this morning, and came across an EP of remixes of songs from Blanck Mass's 2017 album "World Eater."  It's gonna be a good day.  Zola Jesus, Gazelle Twin, Naked, and M. I was unaware we were getting new Zola Jesus this year.  I'll take it.  New single "Exhumed" sounds like a culmination of everything the artist has made before, combining noisy goth balladry and sleek dark pop.  Listen to it below and get the upcoming "Okovi" LP from Sacred Bones in September.

Jozef Van Wissem and Zola Jesus

Experimental artist and lutenist Jozef Van Wissem has a new album out, and it's a haunting piece of gothic Americana.  I first heard the man's work a couple of year's ago on his excellent soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch's "Only Lovers Left Alive" (a great film too by the way), and his eerie, yet familiar work continues here.  Featuring Zola Jesus on vocals, "Ruins" is a beautiful piece of dark folk and could very easily soundtrack your more dour moments, your uneasy introspection.  Listen below and get "When Shall This Bright Day Begin" here digitally now, or get the LP later in March on Consouling Sounds.

Zola Jesus - Dangerous Days

Zola Jesus have a new album, "Taiga," out in October on Mute, and judging by the first taste of "Dangerous Days," they're going full on glorious electro-goth.  It's dark and toe-tapping and you should definitely jam this one today.  Listen below.
