Washed Out/Small Black split 7"

So, my cold symptoms are finally starting to abate, and football season is at an end. The days are getting longer and the weather is cool. That can only mean i've gotta get my ass running again. Hrmph.

Washed Out (they of Mexican Summer and blogger fame) have put out a split 7" with Small Black. They remix each other's tunes and do a decent job of it.

You should be able to purchase it here. It's pretty good. I'd pick it up if i were you.

We got "The Gate" on our Netflix yesterday. I haven't seen this movie since i was 9 years old. Little Stephen Dorff. I can't wait.

Toro Y Moi

"Causers of This" is the new LP from Toro Y Moi. The whole thing consists of really chilled out synthy jams. It's like the soundtrack to swimming in a dream.

The track "Blessa" came out on 7" a little while ago, but the new LP came out on Tuesday. Go get the mp3 for "Blessa" right here.

New Midlake

Wed: 229 lbs.

"The Courage of Others" is the new record from Denton's Midlake. It sounds pretty solid, really drawing from old English folk music and stirring it up with their usual mellow melodies. The Fleetwood Mac comparisons are still there, though not as prevalent as on "The Trials of Van Occupanther." And that's probably a good thing. Oh, and i love the album cover.

Sleigh Bells and Lost

So, first off, i've gotta thank and give mad props to my wife for turning me on to Sleigh Bells. They are fantastic. It's kind of like if Health and The Octopus Project teamed up with a woodland nymph and took turns throwing darts at Karen O. The last season of "Lost" starts in about 20 minutes. I've got my dork hat on and a bag of Reese's Pieces, so i'm ready to go. Time to bitch slap Benjamin Linus.
