In the early '80s, French composer Pierre Barouh found himself in Japan working with a slew of that country's jazz and session musicians. The result was "Le Pollen," an album that mixed element of French pop, Chanson, jazz, synth pop, and more. It's kind of an oddity, but also one of my favorite musical discoveries this year.
