Craig Smith was a folk and pop musician in the '60s. Suffering from mental illness and drug addiction, the singer/songwriter eventually changed his name to Maitreya Kali or Satya Sai Maitreya Kali and recorded two obscure and amazing psych rock records in the early '70s, "Apache" and "Inca" respectively. Then he disappeared. He spent the next 3+ decades homeless until his death in 2012. Here's "Ice and Snow," a mellow and wistful psych folk song, and our Daily Jam.
