Favorite 10 Songs of 2022 That Did Not Come Out in 2022

In its own way, discovering obscure old music is more rewarding than finding the new stuff.  Whether it be by crate digging at record shops or second hand stores, seeking out your favorite band's influences, or falling down a YouTube rabbit hole, there are endless treasures to be found.  This year, i came across a ton of wonderful old stuff from '80s college rock bands like The Trypes, Ivory Coast crooner Bony Castro, Japanese pop artist Kahimi Karie, and much, much more.  And those didn't even make this list.  What did make the list is bit of music from a motorcycle gang movie, a soulful, funky cover of "Tubular Bells," organ-fueled psych-soul, some Indonesian psych folk, a Wax Trax industrial collaboration i'm amazed i didn't find until this year, an experimental track from a neo-classical composer, pretty psych pop, instrumental French pop, more pretty psych pop, and some modern day throwback hair metal.  Check 'em out below...

1. Paul Wibier - "Satan"

2. Billy Green and The Love Machine - "Tubular Bells"

3. Monk Higgins - "These Days Are Filled With You"

4. Bimbo & Lin - "Borondong Garing"

5. Pailhead - "Don't Stand in Line"

6. Michael Nyman - "M-Work"

7. Twice As Much - "Why Can't They All Go and Leave Me Alone?"

8. Bernard Estardy - "Ala Mia Thra"

9. The Mod 4 - "A Puppet"

10. Wig Wam - "Do You Wanna Taste It"

Here's to finding more cool, old shit in 2023.  Be back tomorrow for some old movies.
