I was listening to Isaac Hayes's "Hot Buttered Soul" album the other day and started thinking about how often the man has been sampled in hip-hop. It's a lot. And that eventually landed me on Houston's Geto Boys and their 1991 track "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" which brought back some 7th grade memories. Love this one. Hunted down the Hayes track sampled here about a decade ago on a triple disc set packaged with three of his more obscure soundtracks, the one in question being Tough Guys from '74. Always meant to try and track down that film, but kinda forgot about it until seeing Your post. Thanks for the reminder! Incidentally, there's a Glass Candy track that uses the same sample, and it always bothered me. Like, this has been done already. Done a lot better.
