I've never really paid much attention to Ethel Cain, the music project stage name of Hayden Silas Anhedonia, but was urged to check out the artist's newest album that dropped a few days ago. Holy moly. "Perverts" is a droney, ambient, sprawling piece of work, an album full of negative spaces, darkness, barely there sounds, and a deep, deep sadness. The whole thing is kind of overwhelming, but i'm transfixed. Listen to and watch the video for what is probably the most accessible track on the whole album, "Punish," below and check out the whole thing here. For now, the album is only available via streaming. Hoping that changes soon.
