Guerilla Toss

I remember a few years ago when i stumbled into a Guerilla Toss show in the middle of the afternoon at SXSW, knowing nothing of the band.  And they were something else, an unwieldy cacophony of scuzzy punk and disjointed noise.  As time has passed, they've toned things down just a little bit, and on new album "GT Ultra," they've got a grooving, sneering disco punk thing going.  Listen to "Betty Dreams of Green Men" below and get the record from DFA.

Delia Gonzalez

Electronic artist Delia Gonzalez just released her new album "Horse Follows Darkness," her second on DFA Records, yesterday, and it's a mix of somber and intense synthesizer pieces inspired by the deconstructionist American westerns of the 60's and 70's.  Listen to the title track below.

Guerilla Toss

A couple of years ago during SXSW, i stumbled into Beerland to watch the chaotic, animalistic mayhem of Boston noise-rock band Guerilla Toss, and it was a loud, sweaty, and amazing mess.  Recently, the band relocated to New York and have mellowed their sound a tad to take on some kind of mutant dance music.  It's still noisy.  There's still some primal oomph to it.  But now it's also strangely hypnotic.  Listen to "Polly's Crystal" below and grab the "Flood Dosed" EP cassette here.

Museum of Love

Museum of Love is the project of former LCD Soundsystem drummer Dennis McNany.  My love for the Soundsystem is deep and pure, and all offshoots, side projects, and one-offs will be treated with the same reverence and adoration.  "Monotronic" pulses with a Krautrock beat, but hums and purrs with layers of synth effects until McNany comes in with a warm and subtle vocal vibe, sometimes taking on an almost Stephen Merritt like cadence.  Then the oohs and ahhs play us out.  A pretty jam for a Tuesday night.  Listen below and grab the digital single via DFA.
