Mystic 100's
It's that time of year again! When all of the excellent music that i somehow missed the first time around earlier in the year comes crashing into my eardrums in December as i peruse dozens of year-end best-of lists online. A major one comes from Washington psych rock band Mystic 100's and their March release, "On a Micro Diet." The band, formerly know as the more punk rock leaning Milk Music, craft a record that at times sounds like a bunch of stoners just fucking around in the garage before morphing into just about the best thing you've ever heard. And then back again. I have a feeling that this one will pay off huge with multiple listens. Check out "Windowpane" below and download the album here.

Milk Music
Why didn't anyone tell me there was new music from Olympia, Washington band Milk Music out in the ether? New record "Mystic 100's" is out now via Dom America, and it's full of hooky and contemplative guitar jams that fly a little more off the rails than previous efforts from the group. I wouldn't say the band are entering experimental territory or anything like that, but it seems that they're maybe broadening their influences and input some. I'm all for it. Listen to "Twists & Turns & Headtrips" below.

Milk Music
Rock and Roll is still alive, and that's a wonderful thing. Crunchy and ripping guitar riffs, a driving beat, and hollered vocals, Olympia's Milk Music deliver on all counts. Equal parts J. Mascis, Paul Westerberg, and Bob Mould, debut LP "Cruise Your Illusion" is as fun a ride as you can hope to get. Listen to "I've Got A Wild Feeling" below, and grab the album from Fat Possum.
