I caught LA's The Buttertones a couple years back at SXSW, and they were phenomenal, a grooving mix of post punk and rockabilly.  New album "Jazzhound" drops in April on Innovative Leisure.  Get it here and listen to the title track below.

LA's The Buttertones released a new single yesterday, the decidedly surf rock-indebted "Madame Supreme."  Listen below and snag the single here from Innovative Leisure.  I haven't heard it, but the B-side is a cover of The Walker Brothers' "Shut Out," and that's just cool.

As i continue to research a whole slew of band names making the rounds over the coming 8 days in Austin, occasionally a name pops up that sounds familiar but doesn't really resonate.  And so we have LA band The Buttertones.  A mix of surf, rockabilly, garage, doo-wop, garage rock, and post punk, the band's material sounds like the output from some mutant offspring of The Cramps.  New album "Midnight in a Moonless Dream" is due in May on Innovative Leisure, but check out the raucous and bubbling "Baby C4" below.
