Let's get twangy this Sunday afternoon with a little psychobilly rock from Southern Culture on the Skids. Listen to "Camel Walk" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam (October Edition) - You Call It a Graveyard (I Call It Home)
The Coffinshakers are a Swedish country and rockabilly band steeped in the kind of spooky imagery and energy you used to see in many a California garage and surf rock band in the '60s. Here's a cut from the band's 1999 debut album "We Are the Undead." Listen to "You Call It a Graveyard (I Call It Home)" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Ain't Gotta Choose
Dig on the '90s garage rock sounds of short-lived Austin band The Satans. The group injects some noisy surf and rockabilly into "Ain't Gotta Choose." Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam (October Edition) - She's My Witch
I've been fighting a cold the last few days, and it has really slowed me down. There was a lot i was planning on getting done this week, and practically none of it has happened. Anyway, that's one of the reasons i'm posting so late. So here's a good one, the old school rockabilly-tinged "She's My Witch" from Kip Tyler. Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - These Arms
I've always had a soft spot for Dwight Yoakam, so here's a song from the man. Listen to "These Arms" below, our Daily Jam.

Olivia Jean
As SXSW draws to a close, i'm going through the artists i saw and the artists i wanted to see but missed out on. One of the latter is Nashville artist Olivia Jean who has a kind of alt-rock rockabilly thing going on. Her new album "Raving Ghost" is out in May on Third Man. Pre-order it here and listen to "Trouble" below.

King Dude
Dark gothic folk and rockabilly artist King Dude has a new album out this Friday, which sadly he has announced will also be his last. The artist said he always envisioned the project's end, and the "Death" album is it. Check out the death rock vibes of "Pray for Nuclear War" below, and pre-order the download here from the artist or the vinyl here from Van Records.

Daily Jam - Ain't that Lonely Yet
I am not much of a fan of modern country music from the last 30+ years, but i make a wholehearted exception for the work of Dwight Yoakam. He was always a little too rock n' roll for country radio and a little too country for rock radio, and it suits him perfectly. Here's "Ain't that Lonely Yet," a track i'm led to believe is about Sharon Stone, and our Daily Jam.

The Buttertones
I caught LA's The Buttertones a couple years back at SXSW, and they were phenomenal, a grooving mix of post punk and rockabilly. New album "Jazzhound" drops in April on Innovative Leisure. Get it here and listen to the title track below.

Daily Jam - Johnny Quest / Stop That Pigeon
I stayed up way too late last night with my fellow mutants watching some holiday horror with Joe Bob Briggs, and i'm paying for it now. The kids do not care that i'm tired. So, as my oldest is watching "Pee-Wee's Playhouse" via Netflix at this very moment, let's go full old school Saturday morning, cartoons and bowls of cereal for everyone. Get some sugar and caffeine in me, and see if i can't coast through the rest of the day. And let's jam some goofy '90s alt-rock cartoon covers while we're at it. Here's The Reverend Horton Heat's "Johnny Quest / Stop That Pigeon," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Nothing
Too rock n' roll for country and too country for rock n' roll, Dwight Yoakam has always swum in those old rockabilly waters that essentially helped birth both scenes, and i love him for it. Here's "Nothing," a ballad from 1995's "Gone," and our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam (October Edition) - I Was A Teenage Werewolf
Doing Halloween themed music all month. Like The Cramps aren't going to be on there. Listen to "I Was A Teenage Werewolf" below, our Daily Jam.

Cindy Cane
New York band Cindy Cane were one of my favorites earlier this year at SXSW, and i had not heard anything from them since. But apparently, i missed a single back in June, the kind of mutant cowboy blues of "All My Ex's Live in Bushwick / East River Take Me Under." Check it out below and get it here. A full length from the band, "Calgary Cavalier," is in the works, full of the band's particular blend of garage rock, goth, rockabilly. We'll be on the lookout.

The Buttertones - Madame Supreme
LA's The Buttertones released a new single yesterday, the decidedly surf rock-indebted "Madame Supreme." Listen below and snag the single here from Innovative Leisure. I haven't heard it, but the B-side is a cover of The Walker Brothers' "Shut Out," and that's just cool.

King Dude
We've got new music headed our way later this month from the always dependable King Dude. The artist's intoxicating mix of folk, goth, rockabilly, country, and more is always something to look forward to. "Music To Make War To" is out on August 24th. Listen to "Velvet Rope" below, get the album digitally from the artist here, and pre-order the vinyl here from Van Records.

Brooklyn 3-piece Bambara make a moody, brooding kind of psychobilly post punk, all dark and echoed guitar licks and menacing vocals beckoning you into the desert at night. The "Shadow on Everything" LP is out now (get it here), but go ahead and get hooked on the album opening "Dark Circles" below.
