Cindy Cane

Here's some new lo-fi darkwave synth pop and death rock from New York's Cindy Cane.  Caught the artist a couple of times 6 years ago and SXSW and they put on a great show.  Here's hoping for another Central Texas appearance before too long.  Listen to "Hearts on Fire" below and download it here.

Cindy Cane - Blue Christmas

Cindy Cane covered "Blue Christmas," probably most famously sung by Elvis Pressley.  It's nice and weird.  Check it out below and get it here.

Cindy Cane

Here's a spooky post punk jam to carry with us into the night from Brooklyn's Cindy Cane.  Listen to "The Darkness" below, download it here from the artist, and put your costumes on.

Cindy Cane

The moody death rock or New York band Cindy Cane was one of my favorite finds of SXSW...way back in the long ago that was March of 2019.  And it looks like we've finally got a full length album heading our way sometime in the future, "New York Strangers."  Check out the gothy lead single "Let Me In" below and get it here.

Cindy Cane

I caught New York act Cindy Cane a couple of times last year during SXSW, and they were a lot of fun, a cool mix of darkwave synth pop, goth rock, psychobilly swagger, and post punk noise.  New single "Be My Nightmare" captures that aesthetic with some added Halloween flavor.  Listen to it below, get it here via Fetish Records, and catch them again in Austin for SXSW in a couple of weeks.

Cindy Cane

New York band Cindy Cane were one of my favorites earlier this year at SXSW, and i had not heard anything from them since.  But apparently, i missed a single back in June, the kind of mutant cowboy blues of "All My Ex's Live in Bushwick / East River Take Me Under."  Check it out below and get it here.  A full length from the band, "Calgary Cavalier," is in the works, full of the band's particular blend of garage rock, goth, rockabilly.  We'll be on the lookout.

SXSW 2019 Day 7 Pics

One last day to squeeze some stuff in.  We left the boys with my mom and sister and their cousins and hit up the Big Easy Bar and Grill for some final SXSW goodies, seeing sets from Gong Gong Gong, David Boring, and Cindy Cane.  I also had some crawfish which made me about as happy as anything else could this week.  It's been real SXSW.  I'm gonna attempt to do a real write-up in the next couple of weeks to be published...somewhere...hopefully, and god willing, i'll be back again next year.  Here are my last pics...

SXSW 2019 Day 5 Pics

Today started off with some bullshit revolving around a child's car seat and my inability to remove it from a car.  It kind of dampened my spirits for much of the day (along with all of the horrible, heartbreaking news coming out of New Zealand), but i still got to see some great music today, this time jumping around from Hotel Vegas to Kitty Cohen's to Waterloo Records.  I could have wandered all over for the rest of the day, but my feet were tired...because i'm old.  Here's some pics...

Cindy Cane

SXSW is just around the corner, and some of the day parties and events are beginning to come out, another year of music i plan to wade through.  So far though, i've got to admit that this time around, i recognize fewer and fewer artists.  That's good though.  The whole point of the week is to discover new bands, and so i'm exploring the dozens and dozens and dozens of names i've never heard before and checking them out.  New York artist Cindy Cane does a kind of lo-fi, gothic, synth pop thing.  Listen to "New York Strangers" below and catch them (? him? her?) in Austin next month.
