Wow. I'm really struggling to come up with some words to describe the extraordinary new album from Chicago artist Ben Lamar Gay. "Downtown Castles Can Never Block the Sun" is a mind-thrubbing mix of jazz, avant garde pop, Tropicalia, hip-hop, and all around experimental noodling, an intoxicating record from start to finish.
