Perennially great and underrated UK band Elbow put out what i would consider to be their best album back in 2008, the aching and powerful "The Seldom Seen Kid." The song "Some Riot" is about a friend who drank himself to death, but also happens to be the song i was listening to when i found out my dad had cancer. The pain and devastation are palpable, especially in the song's closing wails.
