Thou

Baton Rouge sludge metal band Thou are looking to have a very, very, very busy summer, having already released a droney, noisy mess of an EP earlier this month with "The House Primordial," a new EP, the dark and acoustic-centric "Inconsolable," drops officially tomorrow.  But that's not all!  The band also has a third EP on the way in July called "Rhea Sylvia" which the band describes as melodic grunge, a kind of Alice In Chains homage.  But that's still not all!  August will see the release of the band's fifth full-length of what is sure to be a crushing colossus of doom called "Magus."  Stream "Inconsolable" below, download it here, and pre-order the vinyl here from Community Records.

Caddywhompus

I first saw New Orleans avant-noise duo Caddywhompus in 2010 at the Free Press Summer Fest in Houston.  Despite the heat and the rain, they killed it, making a ruckus and blasting the earholes of the hundred or so people watching them on the small, parking lot stage.  It was with much excitement and glee that i caught them a year later...at the same festival...on the same stage...in front of the same group of sweaty fans, this time in blistering, near 110 degree heat, and they killed it again.  Naturally i bought their record, and then never heard from them again.  Until now.  The duo are set to unleash their sophomore effort, "Feathering A Nest," in November on Community Records.  Listen to the noisy, but blissful "Stuck" below.  Glad to have these guys back in the fold.

Ovlov - The Great Ohmu

Connecticut band Ovlov have a wonderful sloppy aesthetic to their brand of guitar rock, a kind of call back to the drunks and stoners responsible for so much mayhem and melody in the 80's/90's college rock/alt-rock heyday.  It creeps into your veins.  And it makes you want to hang out in your garage, swapping beers, stories, and jams with some less than reputable characters.  The boys have a new track, "The Great Ohmu," coming out on a split release with Ex-Breathers, Woozy, and Gnarwhal on Community/Hex/Social Cancer in November.  Listen below.
