EMA - Aryan Nation

It looks like we're getting a new record from EMA in August, and judging by first single "Aryan Nation," it looks to be just as political and confrontational as the artist hinted at earlier this year when she claimed her label would not release it.  Hopelessness.  Despair.  Nihilism.  Anger.  Anxiety.  It's all there, capturing the current climate of this country, particularly the midwest and rust belt, a pot bubbling over.  "Exile in The Outer Ring" may be the record to tap into the political zeitgeist like no other this year.  Watch the lyric video for "Aryan Nation" below and get the record on 8/25 from City Slang.

EMA - Amnesia Haze

Been digging on EMA's dark pop and rock jams for a couple of years now, and her latest is a floaty, haunting dream.  "Amnesia Haze" comes from the soundtrack and score she composed for the upcoming film, "#Horror," a movie i know nothing about, but the song is at once so sweet and foreboding, that i'll probably have to find out more.  Listen below.

EMA

EMA's second album "The Future's Void" comes out tomorrow on Matador, and from what i've heard, it appears to be a beast, a flashing and mature mix of punk, goth, and 90's alt-rock bravado.  Erika M. Anderson crams an unnatural lifetime's worth of stage presence, confidence, and swagger into her music, and it shows in spades.  Watch the video for first single "Satellites" below.
