Profondo Rosso, Inferno, and Phenomena Soundtracks

Dario Argento turned 78 years old today, and as a celebration of sorts, the good folks over at Waxwork Records have released beautiful new soundtracks for Profondo Rosso, Inferno, and Phenomena.  It's Goblin scores, so you know they're great.  Go here to grab the bundle or individual releases, and listen to the theme from "Profondo Rosso" below.

Dawn of the Dead

For a label that consistently outdoes itself, Waxwork may have just topped out.  Tomorrow brings us the most complete version of Goblin's score for George Romero's classic "Dawn of the Dead" that's ever been released, with amazing new album art to boot.  I'm stoked...so much so that i'm ready to purchase yet another version of this record.  This one looks to be the last though.  Listen to "L'alba Dei Morti Viventi (Alternate Take 1)" below and order the record sometime tomorrow here.

October Horror Trailer - Tenebre

Demons

I think it's been pretty apparent over the last few years that i'm a giant proponent of horror films, Italian scholck, horror film scores, film scores in general, prog rock, Goblin, Claudio Simonetti, and limited edition vinyl shenanigans meant to dupe collectors like me out of my money.  And here we have something that incorporates all of those things with Rustblade Records' reissue of Simonetti's score for the 1985 film "Demons," prog-horror goofiness at its very best.  And, it's limited to 666 copies pressed on blue vinyl.  I'd be an idiot not to buy this.  Watch the "trailer" for the album release below.  And for God's sake, go watch "Demons" if you've never seen it.  It's a lot of fun.

Goblin Rebirth

Italian funky horror prog maestros Goblin are back...well...kind of.  Goblin's rhythm section of Fabio Pignatelli and Agostino Marangolo are back with the help of some recruited musicians in the guise of Goblin Rebirth.  And they've got a new record of spooky, cinematic prog rock coming out in June on Relapse.  All Goblin news is good Goblin news, and their Giallo-tinged jams are a surefire cure for the blues.  Check out the "teaser trailer" for the record below.

Pinkish Black

Opening for Goblin last night was Fort Worth's Pinkish Black, a heavy metal band i heard a couple of years ago, but kind of forgot about.  The duo put out their second album, "Razed to the Ground," last year on Century Media, and going on that album, and the band's performance last night, they were the perfect fit for a Goblin tour.  Sinister prog rock for the masses.  Listen to "Ashtray Eyes" below.

Last night's Goblin performance at Mohawk was pretty damn great.  A bunch of old Italian prog rockers (and Steve Moore from Zombi) laying waste to a horde of horror nerds.  Well done.  Here's a few pics.

Slasher Dave
