Kendrick Lamar Featuring Beth Gibbons

I haven't been able to sit down and really listen to and absorb Kendrick Lamar's latest album yet, which is a shame since "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers" has been out for over a month now, but a standout for me has to be the Beth Gibbons assisted "Mother I Sober."  Lamar starts with a subdued, almost whispered delivery before gradually raising his voice while Gibbons provides ghostly backing vocals over piano.  Check it out below and stream the album wherever you like stream albums.

Kendrick Lamar - DNA

So, after a couple of listens, i'm pretty sure Kendrick Lamar's "DAMN." will most certainly be on 100% of every year-end best-of list...oh, and that he's also probably the best rapper in the game right now.  Anyway, here's the video for "DNA," starring Don Cheadle no less.  Also, if you act fast and preorder the record TODAY over here, you can snag yourself a autographed copy of the record on color vinyl, an MP3 download, and a t-shirt for $40.  Get on that.

Kendrick Lamar - Humble.

Kendrick Lamar seems to be a on somewhat of a warpath right now.  I like it.  Last night he dropped new jam "Humble." with an accompanying video.  He's not messing around.  Watch it below.

Danny Brown with Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, and Earl Sweatshirt

Danny Brown's stuff has a tendency to disorient me, like some kind of sonic methamphetamine straight to the noggin, or spinning in a circle until the world blurs.  New album "Atrocity Exhibition" is stacking up to be quite an incredible release, and this new jam, "Really Doe," featuring Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, and Earl Sweatshirt is a total cherry on the whole thing.  Listen below and get the new record from Warp on September 30th.

Schoolboy Q - THat Part (Black Hippy Remix)

Schoolboy Q's new album "Blank Face" is out today, and, as with everything else he puts out, it's definitely worth a listen.  Also released today is the Black Hippy Remix of the album jam and Kanye West collaboration "THat Part" featuring Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul.  It's awesome.  And political.  And angry.  And probably cathartic in its own little way.  Listen below.

Kendrick Lamar - untitled unmastered

Surprise albums from enormously popular artists seem to be happening at an almost exponentially increasing rate, which is a great and grand thing, but by the time i usually get around to writing about one, the internet has already exploded with hype and reviews and critiques, that there is quite literally nothing i can add to the mold that some other asshole hasn't already offered up.  So, you don't need me to tell you that the surprise release of Kendrick Lamar's "untitled unmastered" is pretty damn good, featuring recordings of a few songs he debuted live on different television programs.  Or that it's definitely worth your time.  Check out "untitled 03 (05/28/2013)" below as originally performed on "The Colbert Report."

The extremely talented and awesome Flying Lotus has a new album out next week called "You're Dead."  One of the album highlights is "Never Catch Me" featuring frenetic rapping from one Kendrick Lamar.  Watch the video below and look for the album on Warp.
