Whirr

Hey, it looks like for Christmas we got some brand new music from Modesto, California shoegaze band Whirr.  It's been a while.  You can get the download of the new "Raw Blue" album here from the band or pre-order the LP here from Funeral Party.  In the meantime, listen to the title track below.

Whirr

California shoegaze band Whirr have been off the radar for a little while now, but they recently announced a live album from an LA show recorded back in 2016.  Along with the release, they're including a 7" of two previously unreleased songs, "Muta" and "Blue Sugar."  Pre-order the album bundle here from Free Whirl Records or download the new songs here from the band.  In the meanwhile, listen to both tracks below.

King Woman

King Woman is the new project from ex-Whirr vocalist Kristina Esfandiari, a blistering, cacophonous mix of shoegaze, drone, dark folk, stoner metal, and just a pinch of doom.  Debut album "Doubt" has all the makings of an instant classic, the echoed and searing guitars, the blasting drum beats, and Esfandiari's haunted wail hovering above it all.  Listen to "Burn" below and grab the album from The Flenser.

New music from Nothing and Whirr

San Francisco shoegaze acts Nothing and Whirr share a member in Nick Bassett, and the two groups now have a split 12" coming out later this month on Run For Cover.  I'm stoked.  Take a listen to Nothing contribution "July the Fourth" below.

Whirr

Here's a new one from San Francisco heavy shoegaze band Whirr.  The driving and pounding "Heavy" comes from new album "Sway," due in September on Graveface Records.  It's noisy, reverby music to my ears.  Listen below.

On a side note, i did not realize that Nothing's Nick Bassett was the main man behind Whirr.  That explains a lot.

Whirr

Bay area band Whirr love their swirling guitar textures, their cacophonous drum rhythms, their ear splitting decibels.  A beautiful and perfect combination of garage rock and shoegaze, play this shit loud.  The band's new "Around" EP is out now on Graveface Records.  Listen to "Swoon" below.
