Junip + Sharon Van Etten

Here's a new track from Jose Gonzalez's Junip project, this time around featuring a vocal assist from Sharon Van Etten.  Listen to "Line of Fire" below and download the song here from Mute.

Daily Jam - Official

I first heard Swedish indie folk pop artist Jose Gonzalez almost 20 years ago with his stripped down acoustic take on The Knife's "Heartbeats."  Occasionally he also releases music with the band Junip.  Here's a track from their 2005 "Black Refuge" EP.  Listen to the brooding and practically oozing "Official" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - The Ghost of Tom Joad

Bruce Springstein is an amazing songwriter, and i'm pretty sure a track or two of his will end up on this series before long, but i've always been more drawn to Junip's cover of "The Ghost of Tom Joad" than the original.  It just seems to hit me harder, that mournful organ underlying everything.  Anyway, it's our Daily Jam today.

Jose Gonzalez covers Arthur Russell

Influential New York cult artist Arthur Russell is getting a loving cover record released by Red Hot featuring artists like Blood Orange, Robyn, Cults, Phosphorescent, and more. Troubadour Jose Gonzalez's contribution is a take on "This Is How We Walk on the Moon," from Russell's posthumously released 1994 album "Another Thought." Take a listen below and look for "Master Mix: Red Hot + Arthur Russell" next month on Yep Roc.
