In December, Australian alt-rock duo HTRK are set to release "String of Hearts (Songs of HTRK)," a collection of remixes and cover versions of their songs.  The record will feature works from Liars, LEYA, Stephen O'Malley, and more.  Check out Sharon Van Etten's slick cover of "Poison" below and pre-order the album here from ghostly International.

Sharon Van Etten and Angel Olsen

I don't know if you're aware of this, but Sharon Van Etten rules.  And i don't know if you're aware of this either, but Angel Olsen rules too.  And the two artists have teamed up for a pretty great track called "Like I Used To."  You might even say, it rules.  You can currently find the track at your preferred streaming site and you can watch the video below.  No word on a physical release yet, but as both artists are on Jagjaguwar, it's safe to assume that's where one would pop up.  And here's hoping we can get some further collaborations between the two in the future.

Sharon Van Etten Covers Daniel Johnston

Back in the fall, the lovely Sharon Van Etten released a new jam, "Let Go," for the documentary film "Feels Good Man."  A 7" single of the track is coming out soon and features a cover of Daniel Johnston's "Some Things Last a Long Time" on the B-side.  We're big fans of both Van Etten and Johnston around these parts, and her gothy, sprawling take on the tune brings out all the right kind of melancholy.  Check it out below, download both songs here via Jagjaguwar and pre-order the record here from Mondo.

The wonderful Sharon Van Etten has a new album, "Remind Me Tomorrow," heading our way at the beginning of 2019 via Jagjaguwar.  The record features production by the ever prolific John Congleton, and is described by the artist as such:

“I want to be a mom, a singer, an actress, go to school, but yeah, I have a stain on my shirt, oatmeal in my hair and I feel like a mess, but I’m here. Doing it. This record is about pursuing your passions."

Lee Ranaldo and Sharon Van Etten - New Thing

Former Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo has a new solo record due in September called "Electric Trim."  The album features Sharon Van Etten on a number of tracks and feels like a lovely mix of crunchy, dusty rock.  Watch the video for "New Thing" below and get the album from Mute.

Hercules and Love Affair and Sharon Van Etten

New Wave disco project Hercules and Love Affair have a new album of heady, booty quaking jams on the horizon with the upcoming "Omnion" LP.  The title track features vocals from guitar wielding chanteuse Sharon Van Etten (fresh off of a spellbinding appearance on "Twin Peaks," and is a fairly subdued and warbly piece of work, a moving and oozing statement of vulnerability.  It's quite lovely.  Listen below and pre-order the record here.

Sharon Van Etten - The End of The World

One of my favorite songs of all time, Skeeter Davis' "The End of The World" has been covered by all manner of artist (the version by Girls in particular is great), and now gets a new rendition from the lovely Sharon Van Etten.  Appearing on the new soundtrack-ish album "Resistance Radio," which imagines a bunch of post-WWII pop songs as performed by modern artists for the series "The Man in The High Castle" (which i haven't watched yet but have been meaning to for some time), Van Etten's take on the classic ode to love lost is wonderful.  Listen below and look for the record, which also features tracks from Beck, Angel Olsen, and Grandaddy, in April on 30th Century.

Jack Ladder and The Dreamlanders

Channeling "Avalon" era Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music, Australia's Jack Ladder and The Dreamlanders swing and swoon to synth-laden ballads and grand sonic structures.  Ladder croons in a pleasant baritone over a sweeping and airy majesty.  Listen to the Sharon Van Etten assisted "To Keep and To Be Kept" below and grab the "Playmates" LP from Fat Possum Records.
