Definitely some of the more out there stuff i've listened to the last couple of days, the latest album from experimental metal band Liturgy is a mix of classical music, jazz, and black metal.  It's like listening to some kind of intense opera.  Check out "SIHEYMN's Lament" below and order the "Origin of the Alimonies" LP here where you can check out the cover art. Normally i'd just post the album cover here but social media companies tend to lock my account when there's nudity involved.  Post all the misleading articles about the election or COVID you want to, but God forbid somebody see an artful tit.

Experimental black metal band Liturgy have teamed with experimental neo-classical duo LEYA for new song that's equal parts chaotic and solemnly ominous.  Check out "Antigone" below and get the track here from NNA Tapes.  Hopefully we'll see some further collaborations from the artists in the near future.

New York band Liturgy is one of those harder acts to pin down.  An often chaotic blend of black metal, post rock, prog, and spacey weirdness, they're often impossible to categorize.  But they're loud.  And they're intense.  And they're inventive.  And i'm here for all of that.  Check out "Pasaqalia" from new album "H.A.Q.Q." and get it here from the band.

"The Ark Work," the latest offering from experimental metal band Liturgy is a complex and confusing mix of ideas and sounds.  I don't even know where to begin.  On top of the barest of black metal skeletons lies a barrage of instruments: bagpipes, synthesized horns, real horns, chanting, IDM beats, strings, and layers of guitar.  Somewhere in the middle is a metal album?  A pop album?  I don't know, but the whole thing has me entranced.  Get the record from Thrill Jockey and listen to "Quetzalcoatl" below.
