Pure X

Having already released an excellent comeback album earlier this year, the good dudes in Austin's Pure X have another new album of music coming our way next month, this time in the form of a rarities collection.  "Rare Ecstasy: 2009-2019" spans the last decade back to when the band was still called Pure Ecstasy and includes this wistful, reverby cover of Willie Nelson's "One Day at a Time."  Check it out below and order the record here from Fire Talk.
 

Pure X

It's been a spell since we last heard from Austin's Pure X, and after a 6 year hiatus we're getting a new record from the band next month.  Always great at blending elements of shoegaze, dreampop, Americana, and classic rock, that trend looks to continue with the new self-titled LP.  Listen to "Middle America" below and pre-order the record here via Fire Talk.

It seems like there are a whole bunch of local Austin bands that i loved over the last decade who just kind of up and disappeared.  (I'll always remember you Harlem.)  One of those bands, the purveyors of dreamy, shoegazey Americana known as Pure X, released a string of excellent albums, and then vanished after 2014's "Angel."  Hopefully we'll get more music from them in the future, but in the meantime, we've got "Hard Sky," a solo album of wonderfully bleak Americana coming from band member Jesse Jenkins in June on Uniform Group.  Listen to the title track below.

New music from Pure X

Austin's Pure X have a new album of their particular brand of shoegazey, Americana dreampop.  "Angel" was recorded at the historic, 100-year old Wied Hall in central Texas and will be out on Fat Possum in April.  Listen to first single "Starlight" below.

Austin's own Pure X has a new album of sun drenched, slow burning jams due out later this year.  "Crawling Up The Stairs" will be out on Acephale in May, but you can listen to and download "Things In My Head" below right now.  Hooray!
