The music is flooding my senses this afternoon.  And now we've got a new one from one of the more interesting acts to emerge over the last few years, UK band Squid.  They make a kind of post punk that's all their own, and now have a new record heading our way in February with "Cowards."  Listen to first taste "Crispy Skin" below and pre-order the album here from Warp.

Way, way back in the spring of 2019, i caught a very frenetic and wild live set from UK post punk band Squid at SXSW.  They were one of the many highlights for me that year, and i've been waiting for a proper debut full-length ever since.  It looks like that's finally going to happen in May.  After a string of weird and wonderful singles and EPs, the band is back with the upcoming "Bright Green Field" LP.  Check out new tune "Narrator" featuring Martha Skye Murphy below and pre-order the record here via Warp.

One of my favorite acts from SXSW earlier this year, Brighton band Squid have a new EP, "Town Centre," heading our way this Fall on Speedy Wunderground.  Listen to the groovy, quirky, B-52s riffing "The Cleaner" below and pre-order the record here.

Here's a cool new jam from UK outfit Squid.  "Houseplants" is filled to the gills with funk, groove, punk, and weird, frenetic energy.  There's a definite kinship with stuff like !!! going on here, and i 100% approve.  Listen to the song below.  Hopefully a full-length record is somewhere in our future.

SXSW 2019 Day 1 Pics

And so, another year of SXSW begins, and with the boys getting a little bit older, it's probably the last one i'll get to do like i've been doing for a few years until they're old enough to just go with me.  That being said, i saw some great bands (Birmingham, England's Table Scraps in particular), drank some overpriced Lone Stars, and met a few like minded freaks.  Here's some pics from the Strange Brew party at Hotel Vegas.  I'll be back tomorrow.

I really like the name Squid for a band, so, i guess congratulations to Brighton/London band Squid for picking that name.  The band will be bringing their particular brand of psych pop to Texas in a couple of weeks, and here's hoping i catch them.  Listen to "Terrestrial Changeover Blues (2007-2012)" below and get it here from the band.
