Paint & Matt Baldwin

Here's a weird mix of exotic guitar and drone that plays like some kind of fever dream from Brooklyn-based band Paint (Allah-Las member Pedrum Siadatian) and LA artist Matt Baldwin.  Dig on the warbled mess of "Dead Ringer" below and snag the "Cherry Lagoon" cassette from the artists here or here.

Allah-Las

I totally spaced on the latest from LA band Allah-Las last month.  New album "LAHS" is a warm and dreamy balm that sounds like the last strands of summer fading into autumn.  It's music for those late afternoons with your eyes closed, the sun on your face.  Check out the instrumental "Roco Ono" below and get the record here from Mexican Summer.

Allah-Las - Raspberry Jam

Mexican Summer has this cool project in the works where they pair artists from their roster like Dungen, Peaking Lights, and more with surfers, travel to globe to catch waves, and then record music to go along with the footage.  Th first taste we're getting from the record, "Self Discovery for Social Survival," comes courtesy of Allah-Las.  Listen to the very surfy "Raspberry Jam" below and pre-order the album here from the label.

Paint

Allah-Las member Pedrum Siadatian has a solo project on the horizon called Paint.  The self-titled album is a stripped down and lo-fi psych affair, akin to a collection of Syd Barrett outtakes.  Listen to "Daily Gazette" below and get the album here in November on Mexican Summer.

Allah-Las cover Kathy Heideman

LA psych rock band The Allah-Las have an EP of covers headed our way in November courtesy of Mexican Summer.  Tackling tracks from George Harrison, Television, and Further, the record looks to comb through a variety of influences.  The band also take a stab at forgotten folk-country artist Kathy Heideman's "The Earth Won't Hold Me," and it's a fantastic, dusty and sun-fried little psychedelic jam.  Listen below.

Allah-Las

"Calico Review," the upcoming new album from LA garage rock band Allah-Las, finds the group forging their path into softer, dreamier, more psych-drenched territory, further exploring and refining their 60's-indebted sound.  Turns out they're pretty good at it too.  Watch the video for "Famous Phone Figure" below and pre-order the new LP from Mexican Summer.
