Primitive Ring

Here's something i missed earlier this year from LA supergroup Primitive Ring.  Featuring members of Hooveriii, Fuzz, and Groop, the trio makes hard, fuzzy, psych-tinged garage rock to convulsively shake to.  Dig on "Heads Will Roll" below and download the self-titled album here from In The Red.

Fuzz

Stoner garage rock power trio Fuzz are back this October with new album "III" to blast out eardrums to.  And here they are, looking like some kind of "Lost Boys" cast outs.  Listen to "Returning" below, and pre-order the Steve Albini-engineered record here from In The Red.

Jon Spencer

It's insane to me that it's 2018, and we're just now finally getting the first official solo release from Jon Spencer.  The man has been blasting our ears with his particular brand of scuzzy rock n' blues n' fusion for decades via Pussy Galore, Blues Explosion, and more, so i guess it was going to happen eventually.  And so we get "Spencer Sings the Hits," a trip into the fuzzy shakin' groove the artist so easily employs.  Listen to "I Got the Hits" below and get the record here from In The Red.

The C.I.A.

Maybe someday i'll have the kind of energy and gusto that Ty Segall has, as the artist is set to release his 5th (or 6th if you count that "Orange Rainbow" cassette) this year.  New project The C.I.A. features Segall's wife Denee on vocals and is a little scorcher of a garage rock record.  Watch the maybe, kinda-sorta NSFW video for "Pleasure Seeker" below and be on the lookout for the self-titled album sometime in December on In The Red.

Ty Segall - I'm A Man

Busybody Ty Segall has a new album headed our way in October (his third one this year), and this time around it's a covers record.  "Fudge Sandwich" features Segall takes on tracks from John Lennon, Funkadelic, Neil Young, Sparks, Overkill, and more.  Check out his version of Spencer Davis Group's "I'm A Man" below and pre-order the record here from In The Red.

G0GGS

Good news everybody!  Looks like we've got a sophomore album from G0GGS, the punk rock group featuring members of Ex-Cult, Fuzz, and Ty Segall (who's already had a pretty busy year) headed our way in September.  Listen to "Pre Strike Sweep" below and get the album of the same name from In The Red next month.

Warm Drag

Warm Drag is the duo of Paul Quattrone (Oh Sees, !!!) and Vashti Windish (Golden Triangle), and the pair create a kind of warped and dubby version of psych rock, a lo-fi and trippy mess of sound.  A self-titled record is due sometime later this summer from In The Red, but in the meantime, check out first single "Cave Crawl" below, with a warbled video to match.

Louder Than Death

King Khan is a pretty prolific songwriter, releasing all manner of garage and psych rock for the eager masses to devour.  And every once in a while, he goes straight up punk rock, an always welcome endeavor from a highly entertaining artist.  Pairing up with Sean Spits and more for a snotty and abrasive project called Louder Than Death, the jams are sure to get you ready to throw a rock through a window.  Anyway, listen to "ABCs in Old Berlin" below and get the self-titled record from In The Red in March.

Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds - Spider Baby

Just in time for Halloween, we get a pretty bitchin' cover of the theme from the 1967 cult horror film "Spider Baby" as performed by Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds.  Watch the video below and snag the 7" (in an edition of 666 copies) from In The Red.

GØGGS

The ever-busy Ty Segall is readying his latest album, this time around in a garage punk supergroup of sorts with Ex-Cult's Chris Shaw and Fuzz's Charles Moothart, a trio called GØGGS.  The self-titled LP is out in July on In The Red.  Listen to "Needle Trade Off" below.

Boss Hog

Dude, we've got some new music from Boss Hog on the way, the old project from super-cool married couple Jon Spencer and Cristina Martinez.  That's excellent news, as it's been over 15 years.  Head over to Pitchfork to listen to "Wichita Grey," and be on the lookout for the "Brood Star" EP from In the Red.

GØGGS

Always on the job, GØGGS is just the latest project from garage rock hero Ty Segall.  This new group also features Fuzz bandmate Charles Moothart and Ex-Cult member Chris Shaw.  Listen to the raucous "She Got Harder" below and be on the lookout for the single in November from In The Red.

Wand cover Gary Numan

LA rockers Wand are easily one of my favorite bands that i've discovered this year, their "Golem" LP a viable candidate for best record of the year.  And they've got another record slated for later this fall.  And, today i heard their excellent cover of Gary Numan's "M.E." on the B-side to their "Machine Man" 7".  It's fantastic, and one of my favorite Numan tunes to boot.  Listen below and get the record from In the Red.

Fuzz II

Damn Ty Segall is prolific.  The California garage rocker just announced the follow up to his stoner rock band Fuzz's 2013 debut, the aptly titled "II," out in October on In The Red.  Listen to "Pollinate" below, and be sure to look for me at that band's set at this year's Fun Fun Fun Fest in November.

Wand

I didn't get a chance to see the grimey, stoned glam-garage-rock of LA's Wand last week, and i'm totally kicking myself for that.  The four-piece bring the noise and melody like ripping bong hits and shooting glitter into the air.  Hell yes!  Listen to "Self Hypnosis in 3 Days" below and grab the band's "Golem" LP from In The Red.

King Khan & BBQ Show

Garage rock freaks King Khan and BBQ Show are back for their first new album in years since their kinda/sorta breakup back in 2010.  "Bad News Boys" finds the duo parading through their usual take on raucous punk rock, a lovely and jiving mix of garage rock fidelity, doo-wop flourishes, and throwback melodies.  They never missed a beat.  Listen to "Alone Again" below and get the album from In The Red soon.

Zig Zags

As it starts to get hotter here in central Texas, it's nice to have some stoned, blistering rock and roll to fall back on.  It goes wonderfully with the heat.  LA's Zig Zags latest "Brainded Warrior" finds the group of trouble makers working with Ty Segall on the boards, and the result is noisy, stoner bliss.  Listen below and look for the 7" on In the Red.

FUZZ

After a string of singles, Ty Segall's crunchy, blues stomping, stoner-garage-psych band side project FUZZ will be releasing their self-titled debut full-length LP in October on In The Red.  Listen to "Loose Sutres" below (courtesy of Brooklyn Vegan).  Oh yeah.
