White Lung

Everything, and i mean everything, about the latest single from Vancouver's White Lung reminds me of high school.  The sound and vibe of "Face Down," the throwback VHS quality of the video, the band's clothing choices, everything.  It feels like snap shot of an early 90's, spit-in-your-face riot grrrl act before that term became meaningless.  Watch the video below and get the band's "Deep Fantasy" LP in June from Domino.

White Lung - Drown with the Monster

One of the acts i was fortunate enough to catch at last year's SXSW was the noise/punk outfit White Lung.  The band just released a new single (their first with new label Domino), "Drown with the Monster," a full-on sonic assault that scratches you in the face and then spits in your eye.  I like it.  Watch the video below.

SXSW day 1 pics

 And we're off.  I drank too much today.  Free beer + hanging out with one of my oldest friends in the world generally gets us both in trouble.  We did manage to catch some great music though, courtesy of Consequence of Sound.  Check out the pics below.

 In the evening, we caught a little bit of a different show that was supposed to include a performance from Jandek, but he cancelled last minute, which made me a sad panda.  The synth-goth of Troller made up for it though.
