Daily Jam - Can You Get to That

Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain" has one of my favorite album covers of all time.  And the music on the thing is wonderful too.  Listen to the gospel and psych tinged "Can You Get to That" below, our Daily Jam.

Run The Jewels

Run The Jewels did us all a needed solid yesterday when they went ahead and released "RTJ4" a couple of days early for streaming and download.  I know this stuff was recorded months ago, but damn is it prescient.  Listen to "Walking in the Snow" below, and go download and order the LP here.

Daily Jam - NY Is Killing Me

I'm not a huge fan of Jamie XX, but this mix of "NY Is Killing Me" he did a decade ago with the revered Gil Scott-Heron is just wonderful.  Listen to it below, our Daily Jam.

Spectres

Here's some noisy, reverbed, and jarring post punk from Bristol band Spectres.  Check out "Choucoune Asphyxiate Repeat" below and get the 12" single here from the band.

Daily Jam - AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted

When i was a kid growing up in small town suburban America, i remember how terrified so many of my friends' parents were of...well..everything.  Pop culture, and particularly black culture, scared the shit out of them, like it was some perverse entity that was going to warp the minds and souls of their children.  But the violence and bravado of all this gangsta rap was really just a reflection of the times.  Is still a reflection of the times.  And it's been on my mind a lot the last few days.  So, here's Ice Cube's "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam -

I lieu of a Daily Jam today, do something positive to help the protesters either with your body or your cash.

Terrace Martin - Pig Feet

I was going to go radio dark today in solidarity with everything that's going on, but then i came across this video from Terrace Martin for his track "Pig Feet."  The track features Denzel Curry, G Perico, Daylyt, and Kamasi Washington, and it's one of the more powerful things i've listened to or seen in recent memory.  Watch the entire video.  Even after the music stops.

Daily Jam - Washington Square

Who knows where we're going?  Who knows where we're headed?  I sure don't.  And everything just feels so lost and broken.  So today, i'm going to listen to one of the earliest songs i can ever remember hearing, a dad classic if you will.  Here's The Village Stompers with "Washington Square," our Daily Jam.

Infant Island

This Friday, Fredericksburg, Virginia's black metal-post rock-hardcore punk-emo band Infant Island, who have already released one of the better albums of 2020 with last month's "Beneath" LP, are set to drop "Collections 1," a new record consisting of alternate takes, remixes, covers, demos, etc. from the last five years.  Check out "Small Differences (alternate version)" below and pre-order the whole thing here for a dollar.

Lebanon Hanover

It looks like we'll be getting a new record from Berlin gothy cold wave duo Lebanon Hanover later this year.  But in the meantime, the group has released two new tracks to tide us over until then.  Check out the cinematic and moody "The Last Thing" below, then grab the single and the B-side here from the band.
