Daily Jam - Good Morning, Captain
Oft considered to be one of the best post-rock albums of all time, it's really kind of hard to dispute that claim after listening to Slint's "Spiderland" LP. And holy moly, it just turned 30 years old in March. Wow. Listen to the album closing slow crawl of "Good Morning, Captain" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Stop Your Crying
Mental note: Listen to more Spiritualized. That goes for all of you. Here's "Stop Your Crying," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Main Theme from Macchie Solari
Anytime is a good time for some music from The Maestro, work or play. Morricone scored all manner of movie during his long career, and some of his most beautiful pieces ended up in some very violent and weird films. Here's his "Main Theme from Macchie Solari," also known as "Autopsy," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Tom
I came across this hip piece of '60s French psychedelia a couple months back when hunting around online for old music to listen to, and Francois Bernheim's "Tom" has been stuck in my head ever since. Dig on those on those string and horn arrangements too. Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Spiral Golden Town
My vacation starts today. Well, i guess technically it started at 6PM yesterday, as i'm going to milk every last hour of the next 10 days. You can catch me at the beach. Here's "Spiral Golden Town" from Deerhoof, our Daily Jam.

Khruangbin Remixed
August brings us a new album from Houston's Khruangbin, this time in remix form. "Mordechai Remixes" reworks tunes from, you guessed it, last year's "Mordechai" LP. The band's particular brand of world psych and funk lends itself to being reworked by other artists, so this record should be cool as shit. Check out Quantic's "Pelota (Cut a Rug Mix)" below and pre-order the album here from Dead Oceans.

Sault
Having released four of my favorite albums of the last two years, i suppose i shouldn't be surprised that the enigmatic UK act Sault is back at it again with new album "Nine." The usual mix of soul, funk, hip-hop, and everything in between is in the air again, and we are here for it around these parts. Check out "London Gangs" below and get the record here from Forever Living Originals.
Sarah Davachi
I'll be honest, some cool album art will get my attention and make me listen, which is exactly what just happened with the upcoming "Antiphonals" LP from LA artist Sarah Davachi. I clicked on the album thinking it might be some kind of goth or darkwave thing and instead get some organ-based ambient music that was immediately soothing and hypnotic. Check out "Rushes Recede" below and pre-order the album here from Late Music.
Zetra
UK darkwave industrial shoegaze duo Zetra will be releasing a new EP, "From Within," later this summer, and the first single dropped this morning. Check out "Life Melts Away" below and download the track here.
Daily Jam - Dreams
There was a short stretch there back in the '00s when TV on The Radio was the hottest thing since sliced bread in my house. I still think they were one of the more interesting acts to come out of that decade, and i'm glad i got to see them a couple of times. Here's "Dreams" from their first full-length LP, our Daily Jam.

The Cosmic Mellow
California trio The Cosmic Mellow sound pretty much exactly how you'd imagine them too, spacey, loungey psych folk vibes to get you...well...mellow. Check out "Endless Wave" below, a perfect poolside jam by the way, and get the band's self-titled album here.
Daily Jam - Groovy
Here's an obscure disco single released in Japan in 1979 to bop to as we inch closer to the weekend (and for me a vacation). Check out "Groovy" from The Electric Connection below, our Daily Jam.

SPC ECO
Here's a really awesome mix of dreampop, trip-hop, shoegaze, and darkwave electronic pop from SPC ECO, the project of Dean Garcia, formerly of Curve, and his daughter Rose Berlin. "All I See" sounds like the kind of alt-rock that would have been on every single mixtape i made when i was in high school, moody, brooding, awesome stuff. Check it out below and download the new "Day by Day" album here from the band and pay what you want.

Pozi
Cool music coming at me from all directions and genres this morning. UK post punk band Pozi has a unique sound, grooving on post punk beats and baselines but with added sonic textures from lead vocalist Rosa Brook's ominous and disorienting violin. It makes for some real paranoia-laden vibes in a not really post-pandemic world. Check out "Sea Song" below and pre-order the upcoming "Typing" EP here from PRAH Recordings.
Angel Bat Dawid
Jazz artist Angel Bat Dawid just released a new album/mixtape, the "Hush Harbor Mixtap Vol. I Doxology," cassette. The album is a weird, twisting and turning mix of jazz, soul, R&B, experimental folk, devotional synth hymns, and more. It's a fascinating listen. Check out "Heathen Practices at Funerals" below, a track that starts with a kind of subdued and autotuned R&B thing but morphs into a beautiful and also subdued instrumental synth exploration. Cool stuff. The cassette sold out instantly, as these things are wont to happen, but you can download the album here from International Anthem.

Damon Albarn
It appears that Blur/Gorillaz front man Damon Albarn has written and recorded a new solo album during the pandemic. If "The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows" is any indication, we're in for a somber affair. That's okay though, as i've always felt that there's an innate sadness to Albarn's voice, even in his most hyper, frenetic, or sardonic work. Check the song out below and pre-order this November's album of the same name here via Transgressive.

Daily Jam - Don't Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy)
It's Ween Wednesday. Let's make that a thing. Somebody get some top men on that immediately. Here's "Don't Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy)," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Bitch
I never would have pegged myself as someone who would dig on club-ready pop from the early 2010s, but years later, here we still are. I can't help but dig on the bobbing chug of "Bitch" by Allie X. Check it out below, our Daily Jam.
MF Guider
New Orleans experimental artist MJ Guider just released a new album, the moody and haunting drone of "Temporary Requiem." The pieces were written and recorded a couple of years back during the same sessions that gave us the artist's great 2020 album "Sour Cherry Bell." Check out the sprawling, ambient, Pagan sounds of "Benedictus: Tribute to Leviathan, Her Ancestors, and Her Progeny" below and download the album here (the limited cassette is sold out).

Daily Jam - Day of the Lords
I really don't feel like working today. I'd rather just sit around all day listening to Joy Division. So here's "Day of the Lords," our Daily Jam.
Lord Summerisle
Here's some dark psychedelic rock from Barcelona's Lord Summerisle. The band makes the kind of grooving and ominous jams that would accompany a devil-worshiping biker gang as they drive through the deserts of the southwest. Check out "Benera" below and get the "Postum" album here from Library of the Occult.
The Amorphous Androgynous
Here's a new mind-melter from London psych rock band The Amorphous Androgynous. "The Emptiness of Nothingness" pulls from psych, prog, jazz, and soul to create something that sounds like the whole universe imploding in on itself. Check it out below and get the new "The World Is Full of Plankton" EP here.

Sally Shapiro
Swedish synth pop artist Sally Shapiro called it quits back in 2016...but it appears she was only teasing as she's back with a new single, "Fading Away," this time around being serendipitously released by the like-minded folks over at Italians Do It Better. Check the track out below (it's great!), and get it here.
Daily Jam - Prospect Hummer
Last weekend, i masked up and drove into town to hit up the shops for Record Store Day. Things were very organized and the chaos that usually surrounds the event was abated. It was different to be sure, but wonderful to get out and do that kind of thing again. One of the records i picked up was the 2005 "Prospect Hummer" EP from Animal Collective and Vashti Bunyan. Here's the title track below, our Daily Jam.

Black Sand
And now for some really cool and hypnotic, shoegaze-tinged psychedelic rock from New Zealand artist Black Sand. Listen to "Inside Your Mind" below and get the adequately titled "Hypnotic Revolutions" album here.
Daily Jam - Sad My Love
Here's a weird and alien disco-tinged pop ballad from Barbara Potts. "Sad My Love" was co-written and produced by J. P. Massiera and featured a couple of his regular collaborators, Micky and Joyce, on backing vocals. Everything is very dramatic and wonderful. Check it out below, along with its strange, vintage video, our Daily Jam.

Divide and Dissolve and Chelsea Wolfe
Earlier this year, Australian female duo Divide and Dissolve released the excellent "Gas Lit" LP, a collection of slow and heavy drone metal about imperialism, colonialism, and the plight of indigenous peoples. Three of the tracks off the record are getting the remix/rework treatment on the upcoming "Gas Lit 3 Part Remix," one of those tracks being a pretty intense reworking of "Far From Ideal" from Chelsea Wolfe. The new version is just as cacophonous as its original counterpart, but weightier with Wolfe's haunted vocals. Check it out below and pre-order the remix EP here.

Daily Jam - Lucky Denver Mint
I never really got all that into Arizona band Jimmy Eat World, though as far as pop alt-rock songs go, you can't really beat 1999's "Lucky Denver Mint." Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Ritual Veil
Portland duo Ritual Veil just dropped an EP of '80s synth and new wave indebted pop. Seriously, these guys have nailed the sound so succinctly, that you could have plucked theses songs straight out of 1985. Check out "Keep Looking Down" below and get the EP of the same name here.
Alessandro Cortini
Alessandro Cortini is an Italian artist based in Portugal specializing in synthesizer explorations, dark ambient, and drone. New album "Scuro Chiaro" just came out last week with sounds and tones that feel like that they're coming in from the farthest reaches of space. Check out "Chiaroscuro" below, download the album here, and go over to Mute for the vinyl.
Daily Jam - Great Day
It's always going to suck that we lost MF Doom last year. So here's a track from his Madvillain, his legendary collaboration with producer Madlib. Check out "Great Day" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Prisoner 763
Tages were a psychedelic pop band out of Sweden in the 1960s. I scored an old copy of their self-titled record earlier this year and it's been working its way into every nook and cranny in my ears ever since. Check out "Prisoner 763" below, our Daily Jam.
The Body and BIG|BRAVE
Experimental metal bands The Body and BIG|BRAVE have paired together for the forthcoming collaborative effort, "Leaving None But Small Birds." Our first listen is kind of dusty, grungey alt-rock crawl of "Oh Sinner." Check it out below and pre-order the album here from Thrill Jockey.

Leathers
Here's some dreamy and pulsing synth pop from Vancouver's Leathers, emphasis on the pop. "Reckless" sounds like it could have slid effortlessly into the soundtrack, tone, and vibes of Nicolas Winding Refn's "Drive," and i've been a sucker for that kind of sound for a decade or more now. Download the "Reckless" EP here from Artoffact Records and listen to the title track below.
Daily Jam - Pumping on Your Stereo
Supergrass always felt like the '90s Britpop version of The Monkees. It was deliberate. And it was awesome. And when they were on, the results were some of best rock n' roll of the period. Check out "Pumping on Your Stereo" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - White Summer Lights
And now we're starting our stretch in Central Texas where it's hot as hell every single day. It was delayed a little this year with all the rain we had in April and May, but the next 3 to 4 to maybe even 5 months are going to be an endurance test. Like always. Here's some funky, psychedelic disco from '70s Italian band Achab to put me in the sweaty right state of mind. Listen to "White Summer Lights" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - He's Not There Anymore
I'm tired. Let's try to energize with some girls in the garage. Here's The Chymes with "He's Not There Anymore," our Daily Jam.
Andrew Sa
Andrew Sa is a rising star of sorts in Chicago's queer country scene, performing often for The Cosmic Country Showcase, a cult psychedelic variety program. The showcase just released an EP of cover tunes by the artist, and they're all great, lonesome and wistful versions of tracks from Chris Isaak, Roy Orbison, and so on. Check out the cover of Hank Snow's "I Wish I Was the Moon" below and download the EP here.

Wolves in the Throne Room
We've got a new album heading our way in August from Washington state's black metal purveyors Wolves in the Throne Room. Check out the man in nature video of "Mountain Magick" below and pre-order the "Primordial Arcana" LP here from Relapse.
Daily Jam - Safe and Comfortable
Still waiting on that new album from The Wrens. It's been 18 years now. Who do they think they are, My Bloody Valentine or something? Anyway, here's a cut from 1996's "Secaucus." Listen to "Safe and Comfortable" below, our Daily Jam.

Bobby Gillespie and Jehnny Beth
I somehow missed the announcement earlier this year that Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and Savages' Jehnny Beth are making a collaborative album for Jack White's Third Man Records partly inspired by old country duet albums. Just a poor job on everyone's part keeping me up to date on this kind of thing. I'm disappointed in all of you. Anyway, the album, "Utopian Ashes," is due in July. Check out the video for "Remember We Were Lovers" below and pre-order the record here.
Thinking With Sand
Thinking With Sand are a very noisy lo-fi shoegaze band from Bristol. Their sound is a fuzzy and cacophonous mix of layered and reverbed guitar akin to running a hundred vacuum cleaners in a cave, all the while dreamy vocals float above. It manages to be beautiful all the same. Check out "Chrysalis" below and download the "Dreams and Half Truths" album here from Shore Dive Records.
Deafheaven
Deafheaven has a new album heading our way in August, "Infinite Granite," and going off of the first single, they're trying something new this time out. "Great Mass of Color" finds the band leaning into the dreamier, poppier parts of their sound, foregoing George Clarke's usual anguished and growling wail for something prettier for lack of a better word. There are falsettos in there and everything. My jury is still out on this one, as much as i like for artists to push themselves in different directions, but it's worth a listen. Check it out below, pre-order the digital version of the record here and the vinyl here from Sargent House.
