Great news everyone! Longtime Houston rapper, and former UGK member Bun B has a new album out! And "Return of the Trill" has quite the impressive guest list, including some assists from Big K.R.I.T., Slim Thug, Leon Bridges, and more. The album is currently streaming in all of the usual places, but go ahead and listen to "Myself" below, which features the ever dependable Run The Jewels. What a great way to start the holiday weekend. Happy Friday everyone!

Marie Davidson
Marie Davidson has been making all manner of strange and pulsing electronic music for a few years now, and she has a new record headed our way in October on Ninja Tune. Listen to the scattered, frenetic, and retro-feeling "So Right" below and pre-order the upcoming "Working Class Woman" here.
Anemone - Daffodils
And we've got a new breezy single from Montreal psych pop act Anemone. Listen to the airy "Daffodils" below and get it here via Luminelle.
Liars - Murdrum
Last year, experimental band Liars became a solo project, with Angus Andrew releasing the "TFCF" LP. And now, he's got a follow-up headed our way. "Titles with the Word Fountain" is a sister album of sorts, recorded during the same sessions, and our first taste is the cymbal heavy and disorienting "Murdrum." Listen below (be careful with the video though) and pre-order the album here from Mute.

MUNYA
Montreal artist MUNYA is gearing up to release her 2nd EP this year of self-described "synth-folk." The "Delmano" EP is due in October on Luminelle. You can pre-order here, but go ahead and listen to the dreamy, warped, and wistful "Hotel Delmano" below.

Luke Reed - Ordinary
I've been following Massachusetts artist Luke Reed for the last couple of years, and his work generally moves back and forth from dreampop to quirky indie rock and back again. Today, he's released "Ordinary" which happily and wonderfully combines the two to warbled, blissed out effect. Listen to the pop nugget below and get it here via The Native Sound.

Mitski
New York's Mitski has been making a name for herself as a premiere American songwriter over the last few years, even getting such luminaries as Iggy Pop as a cheerleader. New album "Be the Cowboy" is out now on Dead Oceans (get it here), and check out the beautiful and moody closer "Two Slow Dancers" below.

Cornelia Murr
Here's some mellow Sunday vibes from LA artist Cornelia Murr. "Cicada" sounds like a slightly warped and trippy mix of dark folk, California sunshine, and '60s kosmische, a floating dream of sound and texture. Listen below and get the "Lake Tear of the Cloud" album here from Autumn Tone.

SRSQ
SRSQ (pronounced seer-skew) is the solo project of former Them Are Us Too vocalist/keyboardist Kennedy Ashlyn, an artistic avenue begun after the tragic death of her friend and former musical collaborator Cash Askew in 2016. A weave of dreampop, darkwave synth, and a little bit of shoegaze, upcoming album "Unreality" works as both a eulogy and an introduction of sorts, a moody and hazy aural statement. Listen to "The Martyr" below and pre-order the album (due in October) here from Dais Records.

Cobra Man
Generally when i think of the wonderful Memphis label Goner Records, my mind and ears are flooded with noisy garage rock and punk, and not disco. But disco we will get, and some bumping and grooving and powerful disco at that. LA duo Cobra Man kick out the synthy, butt-shaking jams with "Toxic Planet," the title track from their upcoming album. Listen and dance below and pre-order the record here.

Lost Under Heaven (LUH) - For the Wild
They've been teasing out new material for a few months now, and today they make it official as Ellery James Roberts and Ebony Hoorn, otherwise known as Lost Under Heaven (or LUH), announce their sophomore follow up to one of my favorite albums of 2016. New album "Love Hates What Your Become" is due in January on Mute. Watch the video for new single "For the Wild" below.

Our Girl
Here's a little blast of '90s indebted sounds from Brighton band Our Girl. The trio craft a loving amalgamation of shoegaze, Britpop, and alt-rock that's full of hooks and daydreams. The "Stranger Today" album is out now on Cannibal Hymns, which you can grab (digitally at least) right here. In the meantime, listen to album opener, also called "Our Girl" below.

Street Sects
Aside from their track record of amazing cover art for everything they release, Austin hardcore industrial punk band Street Sects also make a lot of wonderful noise. The duo's sophomore full-length, "The Kicking Mule," is due in October on The Flenser. Listen to the abrasive "In for a World of Hurt" below, pre-order the record here, and dig on that awesome Francesco Francavilla album art above.
Dödsrit
Swedish black metal artist Dödsrit has a new record of pummeling, cathartic noise headed our way at the end of September. "Spirit Crusher" is full of all the crust and awe we need to pass through these troubling times. Listen to "Aura" below and pre-order the album here from Prosthetic Records.

Le Matos featuring Computer Magic
I've heard some good things about the upcoming film, "Summer of '84," and that the guys who made "Turbo Kid" are involved, i'm all in. And it appears that synthwave act Le Matos are back in the mix as well, providing the score and some pop songs as well. Check out the Computer Magic assisted "Cold Summer" below, download it from the band here, and then swing over here to grab the whole soundtrack from Mondo/Death Waltz.

Daughters
Rhode Island punk band Daughters have a new album of screeching, off kilter noise and hardcore post punk melodies headed our way in October on the always interesting Ipecac Records. "You Won't Get What You Want" sounds like some moody combination of noise and math rock, a dark flow of material to put us all on edge. Listen to "Satan in the Wait" below and pre-order the record here.

RIP Aretha Franklin
We lost another icon today. RIP Aretha Franklin, one of the hippest ladies to ever pick up a microphone. Listen to one of my favorites, "Save Me," below.

Roosevelt and Washed Out
While summer still technically has a few weeks to go, it's pretty much winding down this week as kids are headed back to school this week (or starting kindergarten in my case), so it certainly feels like it's over. But don't let that stop you from hearing one last dreamy, gooey summertime jam, this time around from German musician/producer Roosevelt and featuring an assist from Washed Out no less. Check out the airy "Forgive" below and be on the lookout for Roosevelt's "Young Romance" LP due in late September on City Slang.

Single Lash
Austin label Holodeck Records has been on a bit of a tear lately, their string of 2018 releases all ranking with the best that the label has ever offered. And if my suspicions are correct, and the label sampler that came out way back in March is any indication, that tear is going to continue. The latest is the upcoming "Providence" LP from the spacey, dreamy, shoegazey Single Lash. Listen to "Come True" below and pre-order the record here. It's due in October.

Princess Chelsea
I first heard New Zealand artist Princess Chelsea a few years ago with her brand of catchy, pulsing synth pop, but her latest album, the upcoming "The Loneliest Girl," she seems to be channeling a more '60s girl group doo-wop kind of thing, and i am here for it. Listen to the wonderful retro bubblegum of "I Love My Boyfriend" below, and be sure to grab the record here next month from Lil' Chief.
Lucy Camp
Here's an interesting little pop hybrid from San Jose artist Lucy Camp. "Disguise" is a kind of dreampop, synth pop, dance, and hip-hop combo, and a head-nodding little earworm to boot. Listen below, and get the "Summer Camp" EP here.

The Daysleepers
Here's some epic and blissed out shoegaze from Buffalo's The Daysleepers. New album "Creation" is due next month. Pre-order it from the band here and listen to the reverbed and echoed expanse of the title track below.

LNLY
Here's a little gothy, synthy, darkwave post punk for this dreary (in Central Texas anyway) Saturday morning. Chicago's LNLY craft cold and pulsing little pop numbers to wait for the night to. Listen to "The Lonely" below and get the "LNLY" EP cassette here from the band.

King Dude
We've got new music headed our way later this month from the always dependable King Dude. The artist's intoxicating mix of folk, goth, rockabilly, country, and more is always something to look forward to. "Music To Make War To" is out on August 24th. Listen to "Velvet Rope" below, get the album digitally from the artist here, and pre-order the vinyl here from Van Records.
Author & Punisher
I've got several friends and associates who have been encouraging me to get into San Diego industrial metal artist Author & Punisher for a few years now (Shawn, looking in your direction), and for some reason or another, it always slips through the cracks. But no more! I am reserving my seat for the Author & Punisher train from this day forward, and what a great time to do so with a new record, the upcoming "Beastland," headed our way in October on Relapse. Listen to the scorching "Nihil Strength" below and pre-order the record here.

Spelling
Spelling makes a kind of experimental, avant garde version of darkened R&B, layered with notes of darkwave synth pop textures and ambient soul, and her latest comes at us this Friday from Sacred Bones. Listen to her cover of old Sparks jam "My Other Voice," and grab the "Hard to Please" 7" here.

G0GGS
Good news everybody! Looks like we've got a sophomore album from G0GGS, the punk rock group featuring members of Ex-Cult, Fuzz, and Ty Segall (who's already had a pretty busy year) headed our way in September. Listen to "Pre Strike Sweep" below and get the album of the same name from In The Red next month.
Deafheaven - Night People
I know it's already been out a couple of weeks, but i don't believe i've written about how outstanding "Ordinary Corrupt Human Love," the latest album from shoegazey, black metal, post rock band Deafheaven is. Granted, i've been out of town, but no excuses. The record finds the band maybe more contemplative than in the past, with long sections of subdued and beautiful music taking over for the band's more frequent use of turmoil-laden howling. And Chelsea Wolfe's on the thing too! Watch the video for the Wolfe-assisted "Night People" below and get the album from Anti-.
