Stereolab
Holy moly, we've got new music from Stereolab heading our way next month, their first new album in 15 years. Hooray! Dig on the kosmische psych pop sounds of "Aerial Troubles" below and pre-order the "Instant Holograms on Metal Film" LP here from Warp.
Wu Lyf
Wu Lyf was a short-lived noisy indie rock band from Manchester who broke up right after the release of their 2011 full-length debut "Go Tell Fire to the Mountain." Over the last decade plus, front man Ellery James Roberts has made music with LUH (Lost Under Heaven) who broke up earlier this year. And now we've got a new Wu Lyf track, so i guess we're all still even. It's great. Check out "A New Life Is Coming" below and download it here from the band.
Fat Dog Remixed
Right before the end of last year, 2024 fave Fat Dog released their excellent little earworm "Peace Song" which to some degree has been stuck in my head ever since. Yesterday they dropped a remix. Dig on "Peace Song (A Riot in Sydenham Bus Depot)(TowerBlock1 Mix)" below and order the soon to be released 12" single here from Domino.
Daily Jam - Halo
A few weeks ago, i finished reading "A Curious Mix of People: The Underground Scene of '90s Austin" by Greg Beets and Richard Whymark. The book is all about the punk and indie rock scene of Austin during the '90s through interviews with musicians, club owners, promoters, zine publishers, record store employees, local journos, and more. Being that i arrived in Austin during the second half of this scene, it was quite wonderful to read up on artists and venues i discovered then along with a whole lot i had forgotten about. A real nostalgia bomb for Central Texas Gen-Xers. Since i finished the book, i've been revisiting and rediscovering many of there artists mentioned and interviewed therein. And i'm going to be posting several of them over the next few days/weeks. One of those bands is 7% Solution, a psych-tinged alt-rock group that lasted through the end of the decade. Here's a track from one of their earlier 7" releases. Listen to "Halo" below, our Daily Jam.

Highspire
I have amassed quite a large music collection over the last 40 years, starting with cassettes in the '80s as a kid, and then on to CD's as a teenager, and vinyl when i started college in the late '90s. It can get out of hand, so every so often i have to part ways with some of it, a purge to make space or put a little jingle in my pocket. There's no real method to picking what does or does not make the cut, but every now and then i end up re-purchasing something i never should have let go. Enter Pennsylvanian shoegaze band Highspire. I'm not sure when i sold off the band's 2003 "Your Everything" CD, but long enough ago to have completely forgotten about them. Until now. Until i find they've got a new EP out with next month's "Gloria." Thinking i'm going to have to re-add "Your Everything" back to the collection, maybe the 2021 vinyl reissue. Anyway, it's good to have them back. Listen to "Gloria" below and order the 7" here from Shelflife Records.
Pink Breath of Heaven
Here's some dreamy, shimmering pop from San Francisco band Pink Breath of Heaven from upcoming new album "Colors Make a Sound." Shoegazey alt-rock with psychedelic flourishes that plays like sugary sweet syrup to the ears. Listen to "Blue Is the Morning" below and pre-order the LP here from the band on Little Cloud Records.
Daily Jam - No Dice
For the last three weeks, i have had to coach my son's flag football team of 5th, 6th, and 7th graders. It's...difficult. Here's Beirut with "No Dice," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Mothersun
It is unseasonably cold in Central Texas today and gray and gloomy. So here's some appropriately gray and gloomy music from Japanese lo-fi synth pop duo Diastereomer. From their 1989 sole 7" release, listen to "Mothersun" below, our Daily Jam.

French Film
Austin post punk band French Film is one of the bands i meant to catch last month during SXSW but just didn't happen. Bummer for me. Anyhoo, the band are readying new album "Yours" for release on Austin record label The Nothing Song Records. Pre-order the cassette here and listen to the excellent "Crude Charm" below.
Klaus Morlock
Back on my bullshit again with some new faux soundtrack music from Klaus Morlock. "Fireside Spells" plays like the psychedelic score to some unearthed Eurosleaze B-movie full of witches, satanists, and lots and lots of sex. Check out "Run Hide Die" below and get the LP here from the excellent Library of The Occult.
Daily Jam - Gone
Here's a gorgeous track from M83's 2003 sophomore album "Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts." Listen to the breathtaking "Gone" below, our Daily Jam.

Aesop Rock
Guys, times are scary right now. There is a plethora of nightmares out there that we all need to deal with. But i want you to give yourself a four-minute break and listen to the new Aesop Rock track. It's not going to fix anything, but we all need to take our brief moments of pleasure when we can. Check out "Checkers" below and pre-order the upcoming "Black Hole Superette" album here from Rhymesayers Entertainment.
Panchiko
Panchiko is a UK band that was originally around back in the late '90s and early '00s and called it quits for the better part of two decades before the younger generation discovered them via social media and revived them, a la Duster. The band has now been making music again for the last couple years, and their new album "Ginkgo" just dropped today. The whole thing is quite good, a poppy mix of different alt-rock sounds and moods, and one of the highlights is "Shandy in the Graveyard," which features a verse by New York rapper Billy Woods. Check it out below and order the LP here.
Fotoform
Seattle's Fotoform make lush and hazy shoegaze pop, melancholy daydream nuggets for cloudy days. The band's new album "Grief Is a Garden (Forever in Bloom)" drops later this month. Pre-order it here and listen to the lovely and ethereal "Grief Is a Garden" below.
Daily Jam - Icare
A month ago, i took the day off from work for my birthday and went on a record store crawl around Austin, hitting up half a dozen different stores around town. One of the records i came home with was a 7" from French psych-tinged pop rock band Labyrinthe. Check out the very cool, organ-laden B-side "Icare" below, our Daily Jam. Long live physical media!

Death in Vegas
It's been a long time since i've paid any attention to UK electronic artist Death in Vegas. It was probably back in the late '90s with the weird music video for "Dirt." Anyhoo, i'm really digging the couple of new tracks released on upcoming album "Death Mask." Check out the pulsing and ominous "While My Machines Gently Weep" below and pre-order the LP here from Drone.
Daily Jam - Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken
Here's some lovely, wall-of-sound girl group throwback indie pop from Scottish group Camera Obscura. It's been a long day, and will continue to be so for a while, so we deserve something sweet. Listen to "Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken" below, our Daily Jam.

Semi Trucks
Turn things up with the energetic jangle pop of LA's Semi Trucks. The band have that old school college rock radio sound down tight, all distorted guitars and sunny hummable melodies. Check out "Lou and Edie" below and pre-order the upcoming "Georgia Overdrive" LP here from Post Present Medium.
April Magazine
San Francisco artist April Magazine provides the lo-fi and ethereal hiss and hum for us this gloomy Wednesday morning in Central Texas. "As You Turn" is a dreamy little nugget of bedroom fuzz. Check it out below and get the new "Falling Window" EP here from the artist.
Daily Jam - Dramamine
I was able to score an original pressing of Modest Mouse's 1996 album "This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About" the other day, so hooray me. Here's the opening track, and i believe the first Modest Mouse song i ever heard. Listen to "Dramamine" below, our Daily Jam.
