Sat: 234 lbs.
Sun: 233 lbs.
Mon: 232 lbs.
Picked up "Nite Flights" by The Walker Brothers. It's decent, but the Scott Walker written tunes are phenomenal. Also picked up the "Boneless" 7" by The Notwist. Check out the remix by Panda Bear. It came out last year, but it's fantastic.
Films:
"Inglourious Basterds" - I fucking loved this movie.
"Deadtime Stories" - This wasn't even good it the "so bad it's good" way.
So long August.

Basterds!
Fri: 234 lbs.
Seeing "Inglourious Basterds" tonight. Should be awesome. Looking forward to seeing one of the geeks from "Freaks and Geeks" and a member of "The Office" kill some nazis. Bring me the scalps!
Currently reading:
"2666" by Roberto Bolano
- This novel is fantastic. It's hard to really say what it's about, except life. In a fictional northern Mexican city, women and girls are being murdered by the hundreds over the course of a decade. That's the backdrop as the book follows a slew of different characters over 5 distinct sections. I can't stop reading it. Tidbit: Bolano found out he was dying of cancer while he was writing, and because of that, the novel has this sense of urgency to it that just the whole thing glow. It was published posthumously.

We all have to eat a little shaving cream sometime.
Wed: 234 lbs.
Thurs: 231 lbs.
Recently picked up "The Phynx" by Sun Araw. I believe it's his first record, and it's good. I'd rank it up there with "Beach Head." Also grabbed "Bermuda Telepaths" by Explorers. Ambient power, yeah! And i got "Deceiving Illusion" by Odd Clouds. As my wife said, "it's odd."
Recent viewings:
"976-Evil" - Thhppppbbddddd!!!!!! But, Freddy Krueger directed it, so i guess it's got that going for it.

Pints at the Dog & Duck
Tues: 231 lbs.
The prodigal sons have returned to Austin. The Contact High Five have returned from their brief tour of ravaging farmers' daughters to have beers with me at the Dog & Duck Pub. We're all going to see Dethklok/Mastodon/High On Fire/Converge in November. It's going to tear my face off.
Speaking of having my face torn off, the Fun Fun Fun Fest line up came out today. Motherfucking Danzig is playing! That's worth the price of admission right there. And of course, it doesn't hurt that Mission of Burma, Flipper, Crystal Antlers, Broadcast, and Pharcyde will be there as well. I've got my ticket. Why don't you have yours?

The Neverending Story
Sun: 233 lbs.
Just watched "The Never Ending Story" for the first time in over 20 years. Existential children's movies...awesome.
Recent films (aside from the above):
"From Beyond" - Stuart Gordon's follow up to "Re-Animator." Loosely, loosely based on a Lovecraft story, and full of gore, sexual perversion, Ken Foree from the original "Dawn of The Dead," and a scene where a woman gets her brains sucked out through her eye socket. Brilliant.
"Conquest" - Due to the success of films like "Conan," and "Beast Master," Italian maestro Lucio "Zombi" Fulci just had to make one of his own. This movie is horrible, but in a good way, so it's still enjoyable to watch. The US trailer for it is fantastic as well.
Just picked up Mudhoney's "Super Fuzz Big Muff" on vinyl, Mount Eerie's latest, "Wind's Poem," and a 7" by Hunx and His Punx (great name).
Tune in tomorrow when i extol the virtues of orange soda, and lists, lists, lists!

I want to punch someone in the forehead! or, all about the Dungen show.
Sat: 235 lbs.
So many hipsters. So many little twerps with ironic moustaches. So many loud, awkward-looking, pig-nosed girls in ill-fitting dresses (well, one anyway). Such was the Dungen concert. Aside from irritating fuck-wads, the music was great.
Headdress: Like wandering around through the desert, coming down off of something...anything.
Woods: Great, lo-fi hippy jams, Birkenstocks and all.
Dungen: The Swedish psychedelic juggernaut, although those Swedes could hardly handle the Austin heat.
Picked up a tour-only 12" single by Dungen, and a live 4-song 12" by Woods.

Friday!
Fri: 232 lbs.
Going to see Dungen, Woods, and Headdress tonight. I'm pretty stoked about it. Check for my review tomorrow.
My brother said he met Grant Hart (the drummer from Husker Du) last night. As would be expected, he's very, very gay.
Gotta work at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning. Suck.

Wednesday
Wed: 235 lbs.
And some movies i've recently seen:
Slugs - 80's schlock/gore fest...awesome!
Dead and Buried - Creepy little zombie film, and the last movie with Jack Albertson (Grandpa Joe from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory)
The Sinful Dwarf - Filthy, sleazy grind house film (you'll totally need a shower)
Mega-Shark vs. Giant Octopus - With a title like this and staring Debbie Gibson and Lorenzo Lamas, what could possibly go wrong? Apparently everything.
Blindness - Everyone in the world goes blind except for Julianne Moore.
Prince of Darkness - One of the last decent things John Carpenter was involved with.
District 9 - Awesome. Go see this now. Social commentary wrapped in bacon (science fiction). Roddenberry's head would have exploded.

Weight/Records/Comics/The Contact High Five
Tues: 235 lbs.
Went running this evening. It's getting a bit easier, though my legs and heels are achy. I think i may have shin splints, but what do you do?
Earlier this evening i bought the Girls - "Hellhole Ratrace" 7". Great folksy indie rock. Oh, and i also Wu-Tang's "36 Chambers" on vinyl. Shit yeah!
Everyone, read "Blackest Night" on DC Comics. Geoff Johns has spent the last 4 years making Green Lantern into a very enjoyably book, and everything for the last couple of years has been leading up to this story line. He's introduced an entire spectra of lantern corps from blue to red, and now the dead are rising as black lanterns. This may (and i'm only speculating here) lead to the resurrection of Batman. (I realize i may not be amongst other nerds here, so for those not in the loop, Bruce Wayne died earlier this year when he was hit by death ray whilst saving the world...God, comics are awesome!)
I'm a bit across the board this evening, but there's one last thing. Austin's dumbest punk rock band, "The Contact High Five" are making their way through the grasslands of middle America to play a barn or gay bar(n) near you. If you live in Oklahoma or Kansas, go check 'em out. And buy their 7-inch. It's got a drawing of Truck-o-saurus raping a van. Who doesn't want to see Truck-o-saurus? And raping a van at that!
Spader.

And The Mighty Returns...
Wed: 237 lbs.
Thurs: 231 lbs.
Fri: 235 lbs.
Sat: 235 lbs.
Sun: 232 lbs.
I ran at 5:00 PM on Thursday. It was 106 degrees outside. I had planned on running two and a half miles. I made it about a mile and then thought i would die. After walking most of the way back home (i tried to run some more, really i did!) i did 50 crunches and 25 push-ups. I then took a cold shower, which was the most wonderful shower i've ever had the pleasure of taking. I then proceeded to get a migraine headache (most likely caused by minor heat stroke, so sayeth my wife) and hated myself until i fell asleep.
Today's run was much better. I waited til 8:00 PM, and was accompanied by my wife and dog. Noticing the severe drop in weight on the days that i run, it has occurred to my that, yes, i am a sweaty, sweaty bastard.
Next run is on Tuesday. Hoorah!
Stay tuned, more to come. And i'll be nerding out on some comic stuff.

Amid The Choas, There Comes A Costume!
Taking another shot at this whole blog thing since i'm entirely too cool for Facebook or Twitter (note - bitter, bitter sarcasm). And, here it goes:
I weigh 237 pounds. This is unacceptable.
For the next 5 months, i am going to chart my trials and tribulations to get down to my weight goal: 202 pounds. This means no more Reeses Pieces. It also means getting off my ass, putting on a sweet head band, and working out to some killer 80's tunes. So, to start, i'm going to run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays (distance to be determined). And i'm going to do 100 crunches and 50 push-ups on those days. (Maybe i can gradually do more of these, but i'm very lazy.)
Tune in tomorrow.
(I can assure you, i am quite heterosexual.)
