The Olivia Tremor Control
I got up early yesterday to venture out to my local independent record shop to pick up some Record Store Day Black Friday releases. One of the records was the soundtrack to "The Elephant 6 Recording Co." documentary, featuring two new tracks from '90s psych pop wunderkinds The Olivia Tremor Control. But it's all bittersweet, since bandmember Will Cullen Hart passed away yesterday as well. Feeling a lot of emotions right now, but the songs are pretty great. Check out "Garden of Light" and "The Same Place" below and download both tracks here from Elephant 6.
RIP Will Cullen Hart
They're both gone now. Saw the news this morning that Olivia Tremor Control member and Elephant 6 co-founder Will Cullen Hart passed away yesterday, joining his former bandmate Bill Doss who left us in 2012. Upon hearing them for the first time when i was in college, Olivia Tremor Control quickly became a favorite of mine and made a huge impact on my own songwriting. I'm incredibly sad right now, but at least we still have the music. And fittingly, we just got two new songs from the band yesterday too. Gonna give those a spin for awhile. RIP Will Cullen Hart.
Daily Jam - Eye of the Hurricane
Here's some heavy psych rock from one-and-done band Fraction from their lone 1971 release "Moon Blood." Listen to "Eye of the Hurricane" below, our Daily Jam.

Saint Etienne
Long running UK group Saint Etienne are set to release their 12th album "The Night" next month. Check out the tranquil "Half Light" below and pre-order the LP here from Heavenly Recordings.
The Limiñanas
France-based psych duo The Limiñanas have a new album heading our way in February that finds the band collaborating with a slew of other artists...like Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie. Check out the Gillespie assisted "Prisoner of Beauty" below and pre-order the "Faded" LP here from Because Music.
Daily Jam - Sympathy for the Devil
When i was in 10th grade, a senior at my high school tried to tell me that "Sympathy for the Devil" by The Rolling Stones was written by Charlie Manson. I think he just had some wires crossed as Guns 'n' Roses had recently covered both "Look at Your Game, Girl" by Manson and the Stones classic. Maybe i might have corrected him, but i probably just let it go. I don't really remember anymore. Anyway, here's "Sympathy for the Devil," our Daily Jam.

Father John Misty
I have always felt that Father John Misty seems like one of the most insufferable artists making music today. That being said, i think he's also one hell of a songwriter, so here we are. New album "Mahashmashana" just came out a few days ago. Get it here from Sub Pop and listen to the excellent "I Guess Time Just Makes Fools of Us All" below.
Daily Jam - The Day After the Revolution
The years go by and Pulp's "This Is Hardcore" continues to be a top-5 album for me. I may even like it better now than i did those 26 years ago. Here's the record's glorious finale (or penultimate track or earlier depending on the version you have). Listen to "The Day After the Revolution" below, our Daily Jam. And Happy Thanksgiving.

Trophy Grief
I've decided that in the next few days, i'm going to close and delete my Twitter account. It's been a long time coming, and it really has gone to shit over there. I've been on Bluesky now for a little while, and the engagement there has been much better. And recently, i've been getting followed by a bunch of different music artists and bands of all genre. One of those is Philly artist Trophy Grief. And man do i dig their latest release "Everything Ends." Coming in at over 21 minutes, the track fuses elements of post rock, shoegaze, black metal, and even a little bit of slowcore alt-rock. It rules. Check it out below and get it (along with some stickers) here from the artist.
Daily Jam - Hollow Hills
It's going to be 80 degrees today here in Central Texas. The day before Thanksgiving. The 27th of November. Need to listen to some cold music to even things out a bit, and it doesn't get much colder than Bauhaus. Here's "Hollow Hills," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Love My Way
It's been a weird morning with a lot of different emotions, both good and bad, happy and sad. Guess i'll just listen to The Psychedelic Furs. Here's probably their biggest song. Listen to "Love My Way" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - The Hunchback
It's been a spell since i've jammed some Kurt Vile around here, so here's a cut from "The Hunchback" EP he made with The Violators back in 2009. Listen to the title track below, our Daily Jam.

Gnod & White Hills
UK band Gnod and New York band White Hills have joined forces in the past to bring us droney, psychedelic mayhem, and they're back at it again with the upcoming "Drop Out III." Check out the humming and hypnotic "Run-a-Round" below and pre-order the LP here from Thrill Jockey.
Daily Jam - Obstacle 1
There was a time, some 22 years ago now, when i was absolutely obsessed with Interpol's debut album "Turn on the Bright Lights." Not so much the case anymore, but when i go back and listen to it, i'm reminded why i was so into it. Let's listen to a track. Here's "Obstacle 1," our Daily Jam.

Fat Dog
With only 6 weeks left to go in 2024, i think it's safe to say that London band Fat Dog is my favorite new artist of the year. I've been glued to their sounds (a kind of cheeky Eastern-tinged industrial techno post punk skronk) and their antics (ridiculously fun live shows) since catching them on a whim during SXSW back in March. And today, they've dropped new track "Peace Song." And there was much rejoicing. Dig on the tune below and download it here from Domino.
Minuit Machine
When i'm in the mood for some icy, techno-prone, darkwave synth pop, it' hard not to find myself in the grip of French electronic artist Minuit Machine. Those cold and pulsing tones hit just right. And they just dropped a new single this morning. Check out the dancefloor-ready "Hold Me" below and download it here from Synth Religion.
Daily Jam - Still Burning
Thinking i need something a little more on the oozing side today, so here's New York no-wave artist and the Rowland S. Howard penned "Still burning." Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Marie Davidson
Montreal electronic artist Marie Davidson just announced new album "City of Clowns" heading our way in February with the release of the new, horrifically titled banger "Sexy Clown." Dig on the electronic throb below and pre-order the LP here from DEEWEE.
Daily Jam - Way to Blue
I don't know about the rest of you, but this week is just crazy busy around here, both with work and home stuff, and the boys' school stuff as well. Time to slow it down some with some Nick Drake. Here's a track from his 1969 debut "Five Leaves Left." Listen to "Way to Blue" below, our Daily Jam.

Timecop 1983
Hey, it's new music from Timecop 1983. Dig on the synth wave. Check out "A New World" below and get the new "Metropolis" album here from Timeslave Recordings.
Daily Jam - Lost in You
Irish alt-rock band Ash's 1996 album "1977" is one of those albums that was so omnipresent for me during my senior year of high school, that it can be hard to separate it from that era of my life. Whatever those songs meant to me on a persona level then, kind of still mean the same now, despite life everchanging, "Lost in You" in particular. Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

The Laughing Chimes
Ohio band The Laughing Chimes have a jangly, college-radio, post punk thing kind of going on for them, and i am 100% here for it. New album "Whispers in the Speech Machine" is out in January. Pre-order it here from Slumberland Records and listen to "High Beams" below.
Daily Jam - Road Rage
Starting the week off with a very rainy morning here in Central Texas, along with some '90s Britpop. Here's Catatonia with "Road Rage," our Daily Jam.

sunshy
Chicago band sunshy makes a wonderful mix of dreampop, shoegaze, and noise rock, that kind of alt-rock blend that feels particularly made just or me. Thanks guys. Check out "Poison" below and download the band's new "I Don't Care What Comes Next" album here. Or grab the cassette here from Longinus Recordings.
Daily Jam - You You
UK artist Robert Wyatt has been making music for 60 years with bands like Wilde Flowers, Soft Machine, and solo. Here's a kinda jazzy, kinda proggy, kinda something else entirely track from his 2007 album "Comic Opera." Listen to "You You" below, our Daily Jam.

The Jesus Lizard
A couple weeks ago, i was fortunate enough to get to see The Jesus Lizard, live and in person. It was a long time coming, and probably only made possible by the fact that the band released comeback album "Rack" earlier this year. And now they've got a new single. Could this be the start of a new era? Check out "Cost of Living" below and download it here from Ipecac.
Blanck Mass
Blanck Mass, the solo project of Fuck Buttons member Benjamin John Power, is dropping a new 12" single next month with the release of "Bloodhound / You." The A-side is a hyper swirling mix of electronics and black metal vocals. It will give you the shakes. Check it out below and pre-order the record here from the artist and Weirding Way.
Dumb Numbers
Dumb Numbers is the noise rock project of LA artist Adam Harding. His latest release, which dropped today, is a spooky cover of a spooky song, "In Heaven" from David Lynch's "Eraserhead." The track features an assist from Dale Crover and Thor Harris. Check it out below and download it here from Joyful Noise Recordings.
Daily Jam - Stuntman
Spend your Friday morning with some electronic music from Edgar Froese, the Tangerine Dream co-founder's fifth solo album "Stuntman" to be exact. Listen to the title track below, our Daily Jam.

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs
UK sludge and doom-laden stoner metal band Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs just released new tune "Detroit." And you can pay whatever you want for the download from the band and Rocket Recordings here. And all the proceeds go to domestic abuse charities. Do something good for yourself and others today, and check the track out below.
Prison
New York band Prison make a blistering, deafening mix of alt-rock, psychedelic, blues, and noise rock. New album "Downstate" drops next year in January. Pre-order it here from Drag City and listen to "Eyes for Keys" below.
Daily Jam - (Can't You) Trip Like I Do
Man, the soundtrack to the "Spawn" movie really is a time capsule of the late '90s, the mix of alt-rock and electronic artists collaborating together to make something...honestly mostly mediocre. But i'll admit, there are a couple of bangers on there, one of which is the album opening "(Can't You) Trip Like I Do" from Filter and The Crystal Method. Listen to it below, our Daily Jam.

Pounds 448 x Bohemia Lynch
Rochester, New York rapper Pounds 448 teamed with producer/composer Bohemia Lynch for the fantastic new album "If He Dies He Dies." Check out the excellent cover art above, and dig on the excellent new track "Power Grid," featuring BVNGS and Rome Streetz. And grab the LP here from Daupe if there are any left. They're going fast.

bdrmm
UK band bdrmm made a lot of waves among shoegaze fans a couple of years ago, and now they're back early next year with new album "Microtonic." On first single "John on the Ceiling," the dreamy shoegaze aesthetic is still there but with some added electronic twitchiness to go along. It's wonderful. Listen to the track below and pre-order the upcoming LP here from Rock Action Records.
Mesarthim
Earlier this year, Australian atmospheric black metal band Mesarthim released the epic new song "Departure," and now the good folks over at Avantgarde Music are releasing it, along with last year's equally epic "Anthropic Bias," on vinyl in December. Listen to the grand, soaring, and bombastic "Departure" below and pre-order the LP here.
Sam Morton
English actress turned singer Sam Morton released the hauntingly sparse and beautiful "Cry Without End" earlier this year, then followed that up with an LP. Now, she's got a new one-off single that pairs melancholy alt-rock with the kind of chilled and lovelorn vibes that used to grace a certain kind of electronic pop record back in the late '90s. If you know, you know. Anyway, i'm digging on the new track. Check "Never Understand" out below and download it here from XL Recordings.
clipping.
Here's a great new track from LA hip-hop trio clipping. New tune "Keep Pushing" has a propulsive, synthy bassline that's really easy to groove on, something i'll probably be doing the rest of the day. Check it out below and download the track here from Sub Pop.
Daily Jam - Ditty
I don't know a thing about '90s California rapper Paperboy except that in 1993 he released the eternal earworm "Ditty," a poppy hip-hop track that often enters my mind at the most random times and without warning. There's no other option but to listen to it i guess. So here's "Ditty," our Daily Jam.

Squid
The music is flooding my senses this afternoon. And now we've got a new one from one of the more interesting acts to emerge over the last few years, UK band Squid. They make a kind of post punk that's all their own, and now have a new record heading our way in February with "Cowards." Listen to first taste "Crispy Skin" below and pre-order the album here from Warp.
Tv Dust
Playing like some mutant hybrid of smoky lounge jazz, motorik krautrock, and no wave skronk, the latest from Italian weirdo trio Tv Dust feels like the kind of thing you'd boil down and inject straight into your veins. Shake and groove to new tune "Last Call" below, an almost Eastern-flavored dirge that's seconds away from going completely off the rails. And pre-order the upcoming new album "Transition" here from Maple Death Records.
