Daily Jam - Suicide Is Painless
Here's a weird one to start your week to before we go into full Halloween mode tomorrow. Dig on this experimental and noisy cover of "Suicide Is Painless" from Hepa-Titus, Void Manes, and Mike Patton, a strange and kind of creepy take on the track originally penned by Johnny Mandel (music) and Michael Altman (lyrics) for the Robert Altman's 1970 film "M.A.S.H." Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Wussy Duo
Cincinnati band Wussy record and perform as a full band as well as a stripped down duo at times consisting of principle songwriters Chuck Cleaver and Lisa Walker and called coincidentally enough Wussy Duo. In November the band(s) have several releases lined up, one of which is the duo's upcoming "Cellar Door" EP, featuring more of a lo-fi sound than the full lineup. Elements of old school alt-rock, shoegaze, punk, and more make up the sound. Check out "Cellar Door" below and pre-order the 7" here from the band.
Deathtrippers
Here's some cool new music from Leeds band Deathtrippers. "Higher (Celestial Mix)" sounds like a goth-tinged mix of death rock and dreamy shoegaze. Check it out below and pre-order the upcoming "Higher" EP here from the band.

Maybe one of the best cover versions of a song ever recorded, here's The Sundays doing their rendition of The Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses." Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Death By Gong
Keeping with the excellent band name them of the last post, here's some new music from Berlin alt-rock band Death By Gong. New album "Descalator" has a kind of mid-late '90s space rock thing going on, ala Failure and other bands like that. Check out "Everything Is Given" below and get the record here from CRAZYSANE RECORDS.
Acid Rooster
Here's a new one from the impeccably named German outfit Acid Rooster. "Chandelier Arp" is equal parts psychedelia, krautrock, and all around space rock, the kind of stuff that could soundtrack a visit to the planetarium or just getting high as fuck in your bedroom. Check the track out below and pre-order the band's new "Hall of Mirrors" LP here via Little Cloud Records.
Daily Jam - Les Uns Et Les Autres
In the early '80s, French composer Pierre Barouh found himself in Japan working with a slew of that country's jazz and session musicians. The result was "Le Pollen," an album that mixed element of French pop, Chanson, jazz, synth pop, and more. It's kind of an oddity, but also one of my favorite musical discoveries this year. Check out "Les Uns Et Les Autres" from the record below, our Daily Jam.

Motorpsycho
Here's some new psych-tinged alt-rock sounds from the excellently named Norwegian band Motorpsycho. The band's new album "Neigh!!" is out now. Get it here and listen to the album opening "Psycholab" below.
Daily Jam - The Gulag Orkestar
During the indie boom of the '00s, one of my favorite was the worldly sound of Zach Condon's project Beirut. And that first album still hits hard. Listen to "The Gulag Orkestar" below, our Daily Jam.

Every now and then i just need some music to float away to, music to disintegrate to, that lovely, airy, dreamy ethereal stuff. And Detroit duo Clinic Stars provide it. The band's new album "Only Hinting" is full of whirlpool layers of guitars and textures that float in the haze, featherweight sonic daydreams for the masses. Dig on the title track below and get the LP here from Kranky.
delving
Stoner/doom metal band Elder's front man Nick DiSalvo also makes music with his side project delving. On new album "All Paths Diverge," the artist crafts sprawling and epic soundscapes mixing elements of prog and psych to glorious effect. Check out "Omnipresence" below and grab the new LP here from Blues Funeral Recordings.
Juniore
And now for a fun mix of '60s pop, surf rock, psychedelia, and French pop from Paris trio Juniore. The band's new album "Trois Deux Un" is full of throwback grooves and is out now. Get it from the band here and listen to the album opening "Le Silence" below.
Daily Jam - The Bombing
There are several ways that i find new music listen to. Things like Bandcamp, or YouTube, or music blogs are the most prevalent now, but every once in awhile, i pick up some new tunes based on what the clerks at the record store are listening to. I always think of that scene in "High Fidelity" where John Cusack's Rob bets Jack Black's Barry and Todd Louiso's Dick that he can move a copy of The Beta Band's "The 3 EP's" by playing "Dry the Rain" in the store. And he does. It makes me wonder if similar wagers aren't being made on what i will or will not dig. Which brings us to "Children of Fire," the 1974 avant-garde jazz album from Hannibal Marvin Peterson and The Sunrise Orchestra. They got me. Here's a track from the record for your Saturday. Listen to "The Bombing" below, our Daily Jam.

White Shape
Digging around on Bandcamp last night, and i came across the mellow, synthy, airy dreampop of Rockford, Illinois band White Shape. The band's new album "Through the Lupine" is out next month on Little Cloud Records in the US and Up In Her Room Records on the other side of the pond. Pre-order it here from the band and listen to the sublime "Knives Down" below.
Daily Jam - Spirit Ditch
Sparklehorse is one of those bands that i was aware of and liked well enough back in the '90s, but that i didn't truly appreciate until after Mark Linkous died. Shame, shame, shame on me, because their entire output is really quite something. Here's a track from their 1995 debut. Listen to "Spirit Ditch" below, our Daily Jam.

Fawn
Somehow, i missed the debut full-length release from Fawn, the duo of Glass Candy's Ida No and former Chromatics member Nat Walker, last October(!!!!). Apparently the album, "Flamboyant NonViolent" dropped without any kind of announcement, or at least none that i saw, and then got memory-holed by the Internet. Only for me to find out about it 11 months later now that it's getting a vinyl release. And man, it's got all those Glass Candy/Chromatics vibes i've been missing. Check out the dreamy disco glitter of "Scars on Everything" below and get the record here from the band.

Daily Jam - Hallelujah (Club Mix)
That any member of Manchester's Happy Mondays is still alive, Shaun Ryder in particular, is a real miracle. Copious amounts of drugs and alcohol flowed through their veins on a regular basis, the likes of which would certainly kill us mere mortals. So Hallelujah! Here they are with the club mix of "Hallelujah," our Daily Jam.

Gong Gong Gong
Hong Kong experimental, psych and krautrock-tinged duo Gong Gong Gong have been making music for a few years now. I remember seeing them several years ago at a SXSW day party held at a crawfish boil on Austin's east side (mid-gentrification). They were pretty damn cool then, and they're pretty damn cool now. And they have a new album coming our way later this month. Check out the groove-laden "Escaping Encirclements" below and pre-order the "Mongkok Duel" LP here from the band.
Daily Jam - Tobacco Spit
Earlier this year, alt and roots rock band Bare Jr. had their 1998 album "Boo-Tay" reissued for the first time on vinyl on Record Store Day. I had memory-holed that record until seeing the great album art above, and it all came flooding back. Weird. Anyway, here's Bobby Bare Jr. and the band with "Tobacco Spit," our Daily Jam.

Men I Trust
Here's a new dreamy and warbled soft rock track from Montreal band Men I Trust. Check out "Husk" below and download it here.
Daily Jam - Close to Me
Back in March, my wife won tickets for us to see Sunny Day Real Estate perform "Diary" in its entirety. It was awesome. And opening for them was fellow '90s emo band The Get Up Kids...a band i had not thought about since their heyday in said '90s. Here they are covering The Cure. Listen to "Close to Me" below, our Daily Jam.

It's hot as hell here in Central Texas today. And we've been doing housework all Sunday long. And i'm tired and i don't want to do anything anymore. So here some's '60s psych rock from Wool to hopefully help me unwind and cool down. Listen to "If They Left Us Alone Now" below, our Daily Jam.

Gnome
It feels like a good Saturday for stoner riffs and noisy psych vibes. And so we have the doom and grunge-tinged sounds of Belgium's Gnome and new album "Vestiges of Verumex Visidrome" to propel us ever forward into the sonic wilderness. Dig on the crunchy and crushing bombast of "The Ogre" below and download the album here from Polderrecords. With an album cover like that though, this sucker really needs the vinyl treatment. Someone get on that ASAP.
Daily Jam - Ictus
I was 12 years old when the Seattle grunge scene exploded in the early '90s, and it was a huge part in shaping my music taste both then and now. I still love that scene and that era. And one of the more nationally underappreciated acts of the time was Tad. When talking to folks from the Pacific Northwest, i've been led to believe that it was actually Tad who were the hometown heroes of the time, more so than the Nirvanas and Pearl Jams of the world. That's wild, but also kinda tracks with the vibe of that city. So let's listen to some Tad. Here's "Ictus," our Daily Jam.
