body / negative Covers Red House Painters
LA dreampop/shoegaze artist body / negative just dropped two new cover songs for our ears with "Covers, Pt. 2," in which she takes on tracks by Britney Spears and Red House Painters. A very different assortment of songs if you ask me. Anyway, check out her version of Red House Painters' "Grace Cathedral Park" below, featuring an assist from Justin Maranga, and download it here.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - Thriller
I almost didn't post this one because...well...you know. Not to even mention that the director of the video is very problematic in his own right. But it's been a Halloween staple for 40 years now, so here's Michael Jackson and "Thriller," our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam (October Edition) - The Night Before Halloween
In 1962, American songwriter released a great novelty pop 7" including the songs "Beware" and "The Night Before Halloween." Both tracks are admittedly goofy, but i love them. Here's "The Night Before Halloween," our Daily Jam.

Portrayal of Guilt Remixed
On Halloween, Austin metal band Portrayal of Guilt are set to release a remix album of tracks from their 2021 record "CHRISTFUCKER." The remix album is titled adequately enough, "CHRISTFUCKER II." Featuring an array of artists like VOWWS, Pictureplane, and more taking on the artist's noisy, aggressive work, it should prove for an interesting and intense listen. Check out the Anatomy remix of "...Where the Suffering Never Ends" below and pre-order the album here from Run for Cover Records.

Sorrow
Sorrow was a UK neo-folk group that released two albums in the '90s and then faded into obscurity. But the good folks at Night School have taken it on themselves to reissue the band's 1999 swan song "Sleep Now Forever," and we're all the better for it. Twilight melodies and elegiac moods abound. Check out "Soldier" below and get the reissued LP here.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - Walkin' Through a Cemetery
Halloween is right around the corner now, so here's some novelty soul and R&B from Philly artist Claudine Clark. Check out "Walkin' Through a Cemetery" below, our Daily Jam.

SiP
Here's a strange mix of electronic, ambient, and new age music from Chicago artist SiP. New tune "Glowworms" feels kind of like a transcendental raga, albeit one that's full of dubby quirk. Check it out below and get the "Leos Ultras" LP here from Not Not Fun.

TRAINING with Ruth Goller
It's time to scratch that jazz fusion/post-punk/alt-rock itch if you get it like i do. Berlin-based duo TRAINING have teamed with bassist Ruth Goller for new album "Threads to Knot," and they are doing their best to scratch said aforementioned itch. Check out the hypnotic, but also kind of frenetic, "Finback" below and snag the LP here from Squama.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - Are You Ready for Freddy
I miss pop song tie-ins to horror movies. A year off of getting hair metal band Dokken to record a track for "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors," the producers went a completely different route with the next sequet, tapping hip-hop trio The Fat Boys, along with Freddy Krueger himself, to rap along on "Are You Ready for Freddy" for "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master." Check it out below, our Daily Jam, and don't...fall...asleep.

Ideal Living
Here's a very cool new tune from Brighton post punk band Ideal Living. "Loving & Still" pulses and spasms on goth-tinged notes, a killer funereal horn section, and a prevailing film on top of everything. Dig on it below and download the track here from Crafting Room Recordings.
Daily Jam (October Edition) - Disney's Halloween Treat Theme
When i was a little kid, one of the annual Halloween watches for my family was "Disney's Halloween Treat." Originally airing in 1982, my parents recorded it on their VCR, and my brother and i wore that tape down. He watched it almost every day. Anyway, the theme song from the program has lived rent free in my head for over 40 years now. So here it is, our Daily Jam.

I've always liked the sample from John Carpenter's "Halloween" of all the bully kids saying "He's gonna get you" at the beginning of White Zombie's groovy cover of KC and The Sunshine Band's "I'm Your Boogie Man." So, here it is. Listen below, our Daily Jam.

The Serfs
Part of Cincinnati's burgeoning post punk scene, The Serfs incorporate elements of industrial synth pop and dance floor grooves into their punk sound, feeling like they could have been making heads nod and asses shake decades ago in Manchester. Last month they dropped new single "Paid in Full b/w Regen" on Trouble In Mind Records. Both songs are definitely worth your time, but for the moment, dig on the B-side below and get the 7" here.
