Chelsea Wolfe and Friends - Crazy Train
So, this is just cool. Until today, i was unfamiliar with the YouTube streaming show "Two Minutes to Late Night," a heavy metal themed version of a late night talk show. I'm now going to have to remedy my unfamiliarity. It seems that during quarantine, the members of the show have been piecing together episodes filmed from their collective homes, and they've been doing covers. So far, Weird Al and Steely Dan have been shredded, and today, we get a doomy and scary version of Ozzy Osborne's "Crazy Train." Chelsea Wolfe, frequent collaborator Ben Chisholm, Liam Wilson (Dillinger Escape Plan), Urian Hackney (Rough Francis), Stephen Brodsky (Mutoid Man), and the show's host Gwarsenio Hall drop the classic tune into a minor key and then proceed to just kill it. More of this please. Watch the video below and support the show here.

Marissa Nadler and Stephen Brodsky
Marissa Nadler and Stephen Brodsky put out the excellent "Droneflower" LP earlier this year, a record that included a wonderful cover version of Guns n' Roses' epic "Estranged." And now the duo are back with two new dark folk cover versions of Phil Collins' dopey "In the Air Tonight," and Extreme's dopey "More than Words." And they're both excellent too. I'm particularly fond of the Extreme cover, probably because the original was HUGE when i was in the 6th grade. Check them both out below and get them here via Sacred Bones.

Marissa Nadler & Stephen Brodsky - Estranged
I've been listening to both Marissa Nadler and Stephen Brodsky for a number of years, and was instantly intrigued a month ago when it was announced that the two were collaborating on a record together. It seemed a strange pairing, but also made complete sense, especially when looking at the trajectory of Nadler's career over the last decade, starting with Americana steeped folk music and gradually getting darker and darker until reaching a kind of dark folk/black metal hybrid kind of thing. Anyway, when the "Droneflower" LP was announced, it was mentioned that the duo were covering Guns n' Roses' epic masterpiece "Estranged," probably my very favorite G n' R song ever. I wanted, no, needed to hear it. And thanks to a heads up from Shawn, hearing it i am, and it's fucking fantastic, stripped down, dark, and haunting. Listen below, and if you haven't already, pre-order the record here from Sacred Bones, out later this month.

Marissa Nadler and Stephen Brodsky
Marissa Nadler has a new album coming out in April, a collaboration with Mutoid Man's Stephen Brodsky called "Droneflower." First taste "For the Sun" is a dark and ominous dirge that combines elements of Nadler's often ethereal and gothic voice with some harder edged riffage that keeps it close to the chest, but feels like it could explode at any moment. Listen below and pre-order the record here from Sacred Bones. Oh, and the duo cover Guns n' Roses' "Estranged" too. I cannot wait to hear that.
