Good Sad Happy Bad
Mica Levi is known more these days for her film scores, the haunting and spectacular soundtrack for "Under the Skin" in particular, but before all that, i first heard the artist with her band Micachu and The Shapes. Well that band is back, but rebranded with a new name. Now known as Good Sad Happy Bad, the group has a new album of warped alt-rock pop heading our way next month. Check out the video for "Shades" below and get the record in October from Textile Records.
Daily Jam - Song to the Siren
I'm a big fan of Tim Buckley, and his "Song to the Siren" is wonderful piece of wistful folk pop, but This Mortal Coil's version is one of those times for me where the cover surpasses the original. It makes me just want to float away. Check it out below, our Daily Jam.

Selofan
Here's some dark and gothy synth pop from Greek duo Selofan to blacken your Labor Day skies. Check out "The Must Be Somebody" below and pre-order the upcoming "Partners in Hell" LP here via fabrikarecords.
Daily Jam - Place
On another YouTube deep dive the other day, hunting and searching for new/old music the discover, i came across the late '80s Japanese new wave/synth pop group Diastereomer. They didn't release much, but i've been pretty obsessed with their "Mothersun / Place" 7". Check out the moody "Place" below, our Daily Jam.

Tripping Daisy
A couple of days ago, Tim Delaughter did the world a wonderful service and dropped the entire catalogs of both Tripping Daisy and The Polyphonic Spree onto Bandcamp. Aside from the great albums and singles, there's also a veritable treasure trove of rarities, B-sides, covers, live shows, session takes, demos, and more, like this 1999 track off of a split 7" single with Centro-Matic. Check out "Bedhead" below and get it here.
King Khan
The unstoppable King Khan is back next month with a new album, "The Infinite Ones," that going by the first couple of tracks, finds the artist blasting off into the sounds of cosmic jazz and interstellar freakouts. Listen to "Wait Till the Stars Burn" below and pre-order the record here from Ernest Jenning Record Co.
Daily Jam - I Love How You Love Me
It's been a week of anniversaries for me, my 1-year anniversary at my new job on Thursday, and today is me 12-year wedding anniversary. Here's "I Love How You Love Me" from The Paris Sisters to mark the occasion, our Daily Jam.

Zeal & Ardor
Zeal & Ardor's unique brand of gospel blues metal has always felt of the earth, a kind of spiritual din of mud and turmoil. And on their latest upcoming EP, "Wake of a Nation," the group focuses that transcendent sound on our current and seemingly everlasting state of turmoil by way of racism and police violence. It feels darker. It feels heavier. It feels real. Listen to "Vigil" below and try not to be moved by it, a mix of anger and yearning, history and despair, and maybe even just the slightest ray of hope. It floors me. The EP is out next month on MVKA. Pre-order it here.
