Daily Jam - New Brigade

Over the last decade, Danish punk band Iceage have managed to become one of my favorite acts out there, each successive album seeming to outdo what came before.  Just a great, great band.  Here's a track from their 2010 debut.  Listen to "New Brigade" below, our Daily Jam.

The Veldt

North Carolina band The Veldt have a cool shoegaze meets soul vibe, and on their latest release, the "Check Out Your Mind" EP, they cover Curtis Mayfield for the title track and turn it into a pulsing alt-rock song.  It rules.  Check it out below and download it here.

Elaine Howley

Here's a subdued and slightly entrancing piece of experimental alt-rock from UK artist Elaine Howley.  "Silent Talk" feels like a kind of masonic chant recorded on 4-track tape in a bedroom and then broadcasted into the wilderness.  Check it out below and pre-order "The Distance Between Heart and Mouth" here from Touch Sensitive Records.

Extra Life

Here's an odd new track from New York band Extra Life.  "Diagonal Power" starts off like a cinematic proclamation, horns trumpeting the arrival of royalty or diplomats, and then throws in elements of prog rock, math rock, and post punk over its 12-minute run.  Check it out below and pre-order the band's upcoming new album "Secular Works, Vol. 2" here from Charlie Looker.
