John Dwyer and Co. are back this month with a new OSEES album, this time around throwing some new wave and synth punk into the usual mix of garage rock and psychedelia on "Intercepted Message."  Get the album here and listen to the title track below.

Osees

Here's some new music from the ever prolific Osees...or Oh Sees...or Thee Oh Sees...or OCS...or whatever they might be calling themselves these days.  Recently John Dwyer and Co. have been noodling around with prog and interstellar jazz, but on the upcoming "A Foul Form," if the the lead off track "Funeral Solution" is any indication, is looking to be a raucous and guttural mix of punk, metal, and noise.  Check that track out below and get the album here from Castle Face in August.

If i go more that a couple of months without hearing that there's new music on the way from Oh Sees, i start to worry.  Anyway, it's been a couple months, so here's some new music on the way from Oh Sees.  Check out the quick blast of psych punk with the punchy "Dreary Nonsense" below and pre-order the "Protean Threat" album here from the band, and then keep an eye on a physical release from Castle Face Records after that.

Brigid Dawson & The Mother's Network

Brigid Dawson is a member of Thee Oh Sees (or whatever incarnation of that name they're going by these days) and in May released her first solo effort with a project called Brigid Dawson and The Mother's Network.  The band makes tripped out psychedelia with flashes of folk, jazz, and krautrock.  Check out the very proggy video for "Is the Season for New Incarnations" below, download the "Ballet of Apes" album here and get the LP here from Castle Face.

Osees

OCS or Thee Oh Sees or Oh Sees, or now Osees, regardless of the moniker, John Dwyer's long running psych rock outfit is going to churn out something groove or rattle your ear drums.  The artist's latest release, the upcoming "Synth" 12" consists of a 40-minute instrumental synthesizer exploration divided into two parts, "Infinite Columns" and "Regards to the Monolith."  Check out the weirdness below and pre-order here.

Kelley Stoltz

I'm not really sure how i slept on "Que Aura," the latest release from psych-tinged, bedroom pop artist Kelley Stoltz when it came out over the summer, but damn, i'm behind.  Anyway, listen to dance-ready "Empty Kicks" below and grab the record from Castle Face.

OCS - Memory of a Cut Off Head

Remember last week Thee Oh Sees, now known as just Oh Sees, released their 19th album "Orc?"  Yeah.  It was pretty awesome.  Well, the band has already announced a follow up album...and another name change.  November's "Memory of a Cut Off Head" finds that band going back to the original moniker used on their first release, just plain old OCS.  The album also marks a whole slew of anniversaries, the band's 20th release, their 20th year, and John Dwyer's Castle Face Records' 100th release.  May the celebration boogie begin.  Listen to the title track below and be sure to get the record in November.

Oh Sees

John Dwyer and Co. have changed their name from Thee Oh Sees to just Oh Sees.  This isn't the first time the band's name has changed.  I remember way back when they were called OCS.  Anyway, it's going to the throw me off a little, but the ever prolific artist will be releasing his first album under the new moniker in August on Castle Face.  Listen to the frenetic "The Static God" below and be sure to snag the "Orc" LP when it's available.

The I.L.Y's - I Love You Man

Zach Hill's Death Grips side project The I.L.Y's are set to release their third album "Bodyguard" in June, this time with a physical release via John Dwyer's Castle Face Records.  Listen to the psych and garage tinged "I Love You Man" below.

Dream Machine

Mathew Melton of the glammy, surfy garage rock band Warm Soda appears to be bringing that project to an end, but he has started a new one with his wife Doris called Dream Machine.  And what a project.  Combing through the 60's and 70's for smoke-fueled riffs, trippy organs, and hypnotic beats, Dream Machine is here to melt your faces off...and probably get you high.  The band's debut "The Illusion" is due next month on Castle Face Records, but you should listen to "I Walked in the Fire" below right now.

Thee Oh Sees - The Poem

I seem to be writing about new music from Thee Oh Sees all the damn time, the prolific nature of Dwyer and company keeping me up to my armpits in fantastic, psychedelic garage rock.  So far, 2016 has brought us a live album, a couple singles, the blistering "A Weird Exits" LP, and now the upcoming companion album "An Odd Entrances."  The first taste of the new record is the pretty, lullaby-feeling "The Poem," like walking through a garden in a sunny haze.  Listen below and grab the new album from Castle Face Records next month.

Thee Oh Sees

On Friday, we get a new album from garage rock stalwarts Thee Oh Sees.  The oddly titled "A Weird Exits" finds the band doing what they do so well, raucous garage jams with just the right amount of psychedelic flair.  Listen to the wonderfully dreamy "The Axis" below and get the record from Castle Face.

Thee Oh Sees - Live in San Francisco

Bay area garage rock band Thee Oh Sees are easily one of the best live touring bands in the country.  I've probably seen them a dozen times in the last five or six years, and i am blown away by their energy every single time.  So, it's pretty damn awesome that main man John Dwyer's Castle Face Records just released a live album of the band on the label's increasingly awesome "Live in San Francisco" series.  It does not disappoint.  Listen to "Web" below and get the record here.

Feels

My wife and i actually got a little bit of time together this afternoon with no kids (thanks mom and Aunt Kiki!), so naturally we got some lunch over the east side and kicked it around SXSW for a little while, poking our heads into a number of different bars and parties, occasionally getting out of the heat (it's in the 90s today), and we caught a performance by LA's Feels, a collection of fuzzed out, garage rock bangers.  Good stuff.  The self-titled album is out now on Castle Face and features production by Ty Segall.  Listen to "Bird's Eye" below.
