Wu Lyf

Wu Lyf was a short-lived noisy indie rock band from Manchester who broke up right after the release of their 2011 full-length debut "Go Tell Fire to the Mountain."  Over the last decade plus, front man Ellery James Roberts has made music with LUH (Lost Under Heaven) who broke up earlier this year.  And now we've got a new Wu Lyf track, so i guess we're all still even.  It's great.  Check out "A New Life Is Coming" below and download it here from the band.

Lost Under Heaven (LUH) - For the Wild

They've been teasing out new material for a few months now, and today they make it official as Ellery James Roberts and Ebony Hoorn, otherwise known as Lost Under Heaven (or LUH), announce their sophomore follow up to one of my favorite albums of 2016.  New album "Love Hates What Your Become" is due in January on Mute.  Watch the video for new single "For the Wild" below.

Lost Under Heaven - Bunny's Blues

Earlier this year we got a new track from the duo of Ellery James Roberts and Ebony Hoorn, otherwise know as Lost Under Heaven (of LUH.), and today we get another new tune, and an announcement of a new record out sometime later this year.  Watch the video for "Bunny's Blues" below, a track featuring Hoorn on lead vocals that starts as a whisper and then ends as something a little harsher than the band normally goes for.

Lost Under Heaven - The Breath of Light

I've been a fan of Ellery James Roberts' music for a long time, ever since his days in the now defunct band WU LYF, but i've got to say that his material as Lost Under Heaven (or LUH) has been a broader showcase of his talent than his old band ever was.  New song "The Breath of Light" never quite hits the bombast that 2016's "Spiritual Songs for Lovers to Sing" LP did, but it's still a bubbling ode of emotion.  Listen below...and definitely go back and listen to that 2016 album if you never have.  It's vastly under appreciated.

LUH - Beneath the Concrete

LUH - I&I

LUH, or Lost Under Heaven, the project of former WU LYF front man Ellery James Roberts and Ebony Hoorn have a new track, "I&I," out with an accompanying video.  It features production from The Haxan Cloak and is as somber and gorgeous as anything else you'll hear today.  The duo recently signed to Mute, so hopefully we'll get an official release before the year is up.  Watch and listen below.

LUH.

So the band name LUH., which apparently meas "Lost Under Heaven," is a little obnoxious, but the music therein is ready built to blast you out of the back of an arena somewhere.  Former WU LYF frontman Ellery James Roberts is back with his signature gasping howl, and he sounds like a hungover Springsteen swinging for the fences on "Unites."  The guy just excels at epic wailing tracks (see last year's "Kerou's Lament"), and this one burrows its way right into your cranial folds.  Listen below.

I had the wonderful good fortune to come by the first single from former Wu Lyf front man Ellery James Roberts.  "Kerou's Lament" is a screamed hymn in a swirl of synth symphonics, blasts of horns, reverb, cymbal crashes, and wrenching, personal vocals.  It's the sound of an anguished Bruce Springsteen lamenting the world that spawned him.  It's glorious.  High, high hopes for the Englishman's future output.  Watch the video below.
