Perennial

I've been fortunate enough to catch New England garage rock band Perennial a few times over the years at SXSW.  They're one of those bands that ends up playing 20 shows over a 5-day period while they're in town.  I can't even imagine.  Anyway, they've got a new album heading our way in September with "Modernism," and judging by lead-off single "What's New on the Beat Scene," it's gonna be a rocker.  Check the track out below and pre-order the LP here from Ernest Jenning Record Co.

King Khan

In 2015, director Prichard Smith made a documentary about a group of young, black militants in Memphis in the '60s called "The Invaders," and tapped none other than King Khan to provide the score.  That soundtrack is now being released by Ernest Jenning Record Co.  Check out "Never Hold On (Instrumental)" below and pre-order the LP here.

Miranda and The Beat

I've been able to catch a little more music this year than i figured i'd be able to (thanks grandparents!), and with the temperatures dipping into the near 30s yesterday, crowds were minimal for the first half of the day.  I walked in and out of various venues catching a slew of different bands and artists, one of which was Brooklyn garage rock band Miranda and The Beat.  The group's new self-titled album is out in May.  Check out the slinky, groovy "Sweat" below and pre-order the record here from Ernest Jenning Record Co.

SAVAK

April brings us a new album from Brooklyn's SAVAK, a supergroup consisting of members of The Obits, Holy Fuck, and The Cops.  The band makes a chugging mix of post-punk, new wave, and good, old-fashioned rock n' roll.  Check out "No Blues No Jazz" below and get the upcoming "Human Error / Human Delight" LP here from Ernest Jenning Record Co.

King Khan

Je Suis France

The King Khan Experience

Coincidence or no, my friend Shawn just the other day posted about revisiting the amazing garage soul of King Khan and The Shrines, a train i've been riding since '07 or '08, and now we've got some new music from King Khan coming our way in May.  Dubbed The King Khan Experience, new album "Turkey Ride" seems full of all the clanky, soulful sounds we all love and adore.  Listen to the title track below, and pre-order the record here from Ernest Jenning Record Co.

Double Ferrari

Like i'm not going to at least investigate what a band called Double Ferrari sounds like.  As it turns out...pretty much like what i was hoping for.  Instrumental guitar rock in the vein of The Fucking Champs or the goofier side of Trans Am, the Athens, Georgia band sound like the live score to some amazing early '90s video game, banging and fun as hell.  I've seen this name listed all over the place next week at SXSW, so fingers crossed i catch them.  In the meantime, listen to Double Ferrari's "Double Ferrari" below, from their album "Double Ferrari."  Then get it here from Ernest Jenning Record Co.

Saba Lou

Doesn't it just make you sick when someone decades younger than you is infinitely better at something than you are?  Berlin artist Saba Lou has been recording music since she was 6 years old, and her debut full length, the upcoming "Planet Enigma," which she recorded at 15, is due next month on Ernest Jenning Record Co.  The record features folks like King Khan (who happens to be her father) and Ryan Sambol among others, which just makes it more awesome.  Anyway, listen to the wistful little piece of psych folk, "Lost and Found," below, and marvel at how far beyond her years the artist sounds.
