Daily Jam (October Edition) - Broken Witch

Here's a weird song from Liars about witches, taken from their sophomore album also about witches.  Listen to "Broken Witch" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Drum Gets a Glimpse

I a sucker for genuinely weird albums, and in 2006, i don't know if there was anything released into the wild weirder than Liars' third album "Drum's Not Dead."  It was a difficult album for some people, but i found that multiple listens opened it up and revealed some beautiful layers interwoven into its sonic tapestry.  Check out the tranquil "Drum Gets a Glimpse" below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Sailing to Byzantium

For practically 20 years now, Liars consistently hits that sweet spot for me.  Here's a track from their 2007 self-titled album.  Listen to "Sailing to Byzantium" below, our Daily Jam.

Liars - Sekwar

Avant garde band Liars has been functioning as a solo project for lead singer Angus Andrew for the last few years, still churning out albums on a regular basis.  And it appears this August we'll be getting a new on in the form of "The Apple Drops."  This morning we've got our first taste with "Sekwar."  Andrew is channeling some serious Arab Strap vibes on this one, particularly with his vocal delivery, and i'm all for it.  Check out the video below and pre-order the album here from Mute.

Daily Jam - The Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack

I remember when experimental post punk band Liars' third album "Drum's Not Dead" came out, and the reactions from a lot of critics and listeners were big mix of love and hate.  There was no middle ground.  And i get it.  It's kind of a hard shell to crack.  But crack it i did, and love it i did as well.  Here's the album's gentle closer, "The Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack," our Daily Jam.

Liars - Total 3 Part Saga

Not content with just another LP headed our way, Liars has a 7" out later this month on the always interesting LAMC (Less Artists More Condos) series from Famous Class Records.  Listen to "Total 3 Part Saga" below and check out the B-side from the excellently named Tropical Fuck Storm as well.  Then get the record here.

Liars - Murdrum

Last year, experimental band Liars became a solo project, with Angus Andrew releasing the "TFCF" LP.  And now, he's got a follow-up headed our way.  "Titles with the Word Fountain" is a sister album of sorts, recorded during the same sessions, and our first taste is the cymbal heavy and disorienting "Murdrum."  Listen below (be careful with the video though) and pre-order the album here from Mute.

Liars - The Grand Delusional

Still super stoked about Liars' latest album "TFCF" later this month, and the band (now just consisting of front man Angus Andrew) is keeping that excitement up with the release of another track from the upcoming record.  "The Grand Delusional" is an acoustic guitar driven tune that pulls from blues and lo-fi rock, smooshed and warbled and mutated all together.  It's lovely.  Listen below and get the record from Mute.

Liars - Cred Woes

Holy shit, how did i not know there was new Liars album coming out next month?  Easily one of my favorite artists since their inception 15 years ago, with a string of excellent, weird and noisy and challenging records under their belts, Liars are nothing if not strange and consistent.  New album "TFCF" is due at the end of August on Mute, but in the meantime, listen to the beeping, rattling "Cred Woes" below.

Liars remix Devendra Banhart

As a huge fan of any and everything Liars get their hands on, their sprawling and creepy remix of Devendra Banhart's "Golden Girls" is right up my alley.  It should be right up your alley too, a weird kind of dance track that sways and back and forth from spooky grooves to haunting ambience to sustained noise and beats.  Listen below.

Liars remixed by Silent Servant

Well, Record Store Day blew in this morning like a tempest and has left my wallet and my heart dried up.  I was able to procure pretty much everything i was looking for, minus a few odds and ends, and alas, the Liars "Mess on a Mission" 12" with yard in the vinyl eluded me.  It's a bummer too, because it included the really awesome droney and darkwave remix of the track by Silent Servant.  Listen below.

There's always ebay.

Liars - Mess on a Mission

The rumored new Liars album has a release date: March 24th.  It also has a first single: "Mess on a Mission."  These guys continue to astound and impress and hypnotize with every new release.  Listen to the single below and be on the look out for "Mess" on Mute.
