Daily Jam - The Way It Is

Here's a wonderful, brokenhearted lament from Nicole Atkins for your Thursday listening.  Check out "The Way It Is" below, our Daily Jam.

Nicole Atkins & Marissa Nadler

I don't know about the rest of you, but the pairing of Nicole Atkins and Marissa Nadler feels to me like it was always inevitable.  And now we finally get the two women together on a cover of The Fleetwoods' "Mr. Blue."  It's lovely.  Check it out below and download it here.

Nicole Atkins & Mark Lanegan - November Rain

Two of my favorite voices in pop music have collided to cover an almost 30-year old epic rock staple, Guns N' Roses' "November Rain."  Nicole Atkins lends her old sultry country twang to the song along with Mark Lanegan's gravelly croon to create a piece of dusty Americana along with slide guitars and plenty of melancholy.  It works and it's great.  Listen below.

SXSW 2014, Day 3

Thoughts, prayers, and love to all the people, family, and friends of those affected by the tragic car accident last night.  A general somberness hung over the duration of the day's shows and everyone was just a little bit nicer to each other today.

Here's a few pics from the day...
