Daily Jam - Butterfly

The Verve's music skewed more towards the psychedelic when they first arrived on the scene with their 1993 album "A Storm in Heaven."  It's pretty neat to hear their sonic evolution over those first three albums.  Anyway, here's a cut from the debut.  Listen to "Butterfly" below, our Daily Jam.

Akira Galaxy Covers The Verve

LA pop artist Akira Galaxy just dropped her cover of a late '90s staple for our listening pleasure.  And it's a pretty straight forward interpretation too.  Listen to the artist take on The Verve's "Bitter Sweet Symphony" below and download it here from Bright Antenna Records.

Daily Jam - The Drugs Don't Work

Sure, it's a tad maudlin, but The Verve's "The Drugs Don't Work" still strikes a nerve for me.  Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - The Last Time

For some reason, i had never sat down to listen The Andrew Oldham Orchestra's instrumental version of The Rolling Stones' "The Last Time" until earlier this year.  You know the song even if you don't know the song, it being the source of the sample for The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony."  Turns out it's great.  Listen below, our Daily Jam.

The Good, The Bad & The Queen

Over the last few years, Damon Albarn has been reviving all of his former projects, issuing new albums and material from the likes of Blue and Gorillaz.  And now to complete the trifecta, the sophomore release from supergroup The Good, The Bad & The Queen is finally coming to us next month, some 11 years later.  Consisting of Albarn, The Clash's Paul Simonon, The Verve's Simon Tong, and legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen and featuring production from Tony Visconti, the band's upcoming "Merrie Land" LP is a meditation of sorts on British-ness in a post-Brexit world.  Watch the video for the title track below and pre-order the record here from the band's own Studio 13 label.
