Deep Deep Water

UK act Deep Deep Water make synthy, kind of avant garde pop music that dreams and bubbles along.  The band's "Something in the Water" EP is out later this month from Aphrodite, but you can watch the video for the title track below.  Which you should do, and then pre-order here.

Jorja Chalmers

Jorja Chalmers plays sax and keyboard for Bryan Ferry, which is awesome in its own right, but she also has a solo album, "Human Again," our now on Italians Do It Better.  Check out the dreamy, smoky video for the dreamy, smoky title track below and get it here.

Daily Jam - The Ballad of the Broken Birdie Records

Back when Sigur Ros broke through in the states, it opened the doors for some other Icelandic bands to try and make a little noise too.  One of those was the experimental electronic band Múm, whose haunting 2000 track "The Ballad of the Broken Birdie Records" sounded like uncovering some kind of alternate fairy universe, delicate, beautiful, and maybe a little sinister just beneath the surface.  Check the song out below, our Daily Jam.

Daily Jam - Eyes Without a Face

Every now and then, i come across a song that i'd kind of forgotten how great it was until catching it on the radio or something.  Then i get all into it again.  Billy Idol's "Eyes Without a Face" is one of those songs.  Listen below, our Daily Jam.

Kate Teague

Here's some pretty and slightly dreamy country-tinged folk pop from Mississippi's Kate Teague.  Check out "Sweetheart" below, a perfect Sunday song, and order her self-titled album here from Muscle Beach Records.

The Silence

Tokyo band The Silence take all of the sounds and tropes and freakouts of old psychedelia, prog rock, free jazz, and classic rock and stew it in a pot to make their own brand of interstellar, head-expanding music, a real odyssey of sound.  Check out the sprawling opening track "Sarabande" from their latest release "Metaphysical Feedback" below and get the record here from Drag City.

Daily Jam - Pretend We're Dead

Like so many songs that pop up on this Daily Jam thing i'm doing, i have vivid memories of driving around Midland, Texas with nothing to do, windows down, teenage aloofness firmly in place, listening to L7's "Pretend We're Dead" at deafening volume.  So here it is, our Daily Jam.

Grimes & i_o - Violence

I'm gonna be straight with you here.  Grimes the person annoys the crap out of me.  But Grimes the pop artist i find fascinating and can't help but dig on the jams.  Here's a new one, "Violence," featuring an assist from someone called i_o.  Check out the video below.

Danny Brown - Dirty Laundry

Probably my favorite rapper from the last 5 years, Danny Brown has a new record coming our way in October on Warp.  Watch the video for "Dirty Laundry" below and pre-order the "unknowwhatimsayin?" LP here.
